I can see why this restaurant is rated highly - I had dinner at this restaurant - order the local soup and a prawn /fish dish. Their service is very good - bread and butter was brought to the table almost right away and the staff is very attentive. The soup was served piping hot and it was just right. There was just the right interval of time between courses and the fish / prawn dish with rice was served next - again just spicy enough without being over-powering. For dessert I had their fresh mango with mango ice-cream - as tempting as it sounds.
I did not have a reservation when I arrived for dinner - however the waiter walked around and checked and was able to get me an outdoor dining table. There are 2 or 3 head waiters who can speak some English and explain the dishes to you and they are willing to make changes to the menu to accommodate individual tastes. The ambiance is very good and they do have enough choices to satisfy most palates - certainly will try this place again...even though they are a bit pricey by Laotian standards.
