We dinned here 4 times during our stay. The food and service was always excellent. On the first occasions we did not book a table and we were lucky the staff fitted us in. On further occasions we booked a table and could choose where we wanted. It was perfect. The owner & Chef came to see if everything was good which was a nice touch. The sample soup was a surprise and the towels. The bread was delicious as was the garlic butter. All our main choices were of a high standard, tasty and not over spiced. We found the price reasonable for the standard and quality of setting, food and attentive staff.
Well done
We had dinned at El'elephant on a previous visit to Luang Prabang but the Blue lagoon beats it by a mile.

We were recommneded her by the manager (I think) of our hotel, which didn't do evening meals. Bothe the Wesyerns and the Laotion dishes we had were fine. A little expensive perhaps, but it was good to have not unreasonably priced wine!

We dined at the Blue Lagoon twice during our stay in LP. Yes, it is a little more expensive than a lot of the restaurants in town but well worth paying the extra for the superb quality of food, and the wonderful service. Plus it is very nicely decorated and has a very nice ambiance.

To get here start at the Post Office cross roads and travel (eastwards) the whole length of the traffic free section of the night market. Then take the second unlit street left alongside Wat Mai. It is on the right with a string of lightbulbs outside to catch passing bugs and your good self.

If you are too tame for eating Khmer cooking then go here. It is an expat hang out, the waiters are in smart uniform with arm clothes and there are tableclothes. Got it? NOT very Laotian at all.

Having said that the food is predictably good but very expensive. Mains are $11+ apiece (remember you can get an all-you-can-eat buffet for $2 at several riverside cafes in Luang Prabang) and wine over $25 a bottle. Starters and afters will hit you for a further $10.

Very nice back garden with lanterns for those who want a FAKE asian ambiance.

Since tripadvisor rated this #1 we tried it out and were disappointed. Our group tried both western and Lao dishes. There was nothing bad about the food except that it was ordinary rather than special as we had expected given its rating. It is trying to please tourists at the expense of authenticity. Probably good if you want a break from Lao food.
