Amazing place - incredible staff very knowledgeable about all local food. Best meal in town. good for both meat-eaters and vegetarians.

We had to book a day ahead for a table and expected that given its popularity we would be in for a good dining experience.

Unfortunately I have to say that we were less than inspired by either the service or the food.

That being said the meal was not expensive but we certainly didn't walk away full and have eaten at better places during our stay here.

If you are looking to experiance authentic Laosian food, this is not the place, LP is full of small clean eateries that don't require you to deal with a small venue, arrogant and slow service, tiny plates with high price tag.
Tamarind is listed in almost all the tour guides as a "must visit", that is the only reason for the hype.
If you decide to visit Tamarind you must make reservations no walk-ins.
We felt hungry after our meal and had to go back to main street and order real Laosian food, which we enjoyed in a relaxing Lao atmosphere .

During our stay in Luang Prabang we kept returning to Tamarind. For the authentic Lao food and the friendly service. Make a reservation for the restaurant is often fully booked
Moreover we tremendously enjoyed the cooking class. The teaching was good, the logistics exceptional and it takes place just out of town in a serene garden with a lotus pond.
