One of my favorit eating places, appart from the night market. They offer free welcome shot of Lao Kao when you get there. Go there and try a Lao BBG - "Mugata Lao". Food excellent, staf very friendly

“Worth it for the experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012

We decide to try their famous DIY at table BBQ, what seems like an interesting concept, Choose the meat combination which has buffalo, chicken and pork. In between the waiter brings us complimentary shots Lao Lao which tastes like a nice cough medicine.
BBQ arrives and hole in centre of table revealed into which our BBQ with burning coals is placed. A waiter explains to us how we should cook the food and starts us off by placing noodles, various vegetables and the contents of an egg into the broth. While that cooks the meat is placed on the convex exposed cooking surface above the coals. Buffalo and chicken cook well but the pork is a bit dodgy (read unchewable) so we don't persevere with it. Overall there isn't alot of flavour. Not a great culinary experience but still and adventure

“loved!”

Great spot to eat at night with friends. Food is divine! I love how a lot of great meals cost almost nothing in Laos. Definite good spot to hit up if in town in the future.

“Solid Restaurant and Bar Choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2012

Saw this restaurant from the street and thought we would give it a try. Great atmosphere and cheap beer always wins us over. They had buy 3 get 1 free pints and 2 for 1 cocktails. We didn't try the cocktails but the beers were cold and refreshing.

To order, we had 1 veggie pad thai and 1 traditional lao dish (buffalo meat stir fry).

The veggie pad thai did not taste like your typical pad thai, but it was tasty nonetheless. The buffalo stir fry was excellent with many local herbs and spices included. It wasn't too spicy, just right. We particularly liked that the menu had perfect english and explained many of the dishes. Our bill was $101000 which we thought was great value for 4 beers and 2 entres.

All in all, the restaurant was very good, but nothing spectacular. It was a nice meal for a cheap price. I can see how it would be popular with many backpackers or people looking to save money. They also have a fondue option which looked tasty.

“nice place, but food and drinks were blend”

The food was quite disappointing. While we chose traditional food and the recommended cocktails, nothing was worth mentioning...
