“Great host: Clean Room”
Reviewed April 27, 2011

This is a great place to stay if you’re on a budget holiday. Don’t remember how much we paid but it was not more than 700000 kip. Mr. Peter is an amazing host. Homemade breakfast is amazing. Try out for Peters Tomato sunny side. It will be a great start for the day. But avoid if on days if you have a long bus journey, as it might upset your stomach with all the twisty turns. The room looks exactly the same as posted up in the pic. Manichan is Safe, Homely, Great place to stay.

We only stayed here for two nights as we didn't book early enough but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The owners are so friendly, the communal breakfast/dining table is a lovely touch and it's so easy to meet fellow travellers as well as the family!
Yuuuummmmie breakfast, good wifi, and also very close to town!
The communal bath rooms are in a really good shape and very tidy!

This was exactly the place we were looking for throughout our travels - a proper hostel with communal areas which is fairly rare in SE Asia...we loved it and as we also loved Luang Prabang, I am sure we will be back one day!!
highly recommended!

We stayed at three guesthouses during our ten days in Luang Prabang - all of which are in Trip Advisor's Top Ten - and Manichan was by far the nicest. We didn't have a prior booking but weere in luck and were offered a twin room on the second floor which has a huge shared terrace. Although the room can be a little noisy in the morning thanks to a very enthusiastic nearby rooster, we didn't feel this was a problem - in fact it's quite a nice way to wake up to the sounds of nature and local bustle from the nearby market. We were made to feel very welcome and the other guests also seemed very friendly. The guesthouse has a really lovely atmosphere, offers free tea and coffee and water during the day and serves a brilliant breakfast. Free wifi is available (or the use of a computer if you don't have a laptop), laundry service, reference library, bike hire, advice on tours etc - plus a really nice touch: a photocopied map with the owners' Top 20 things to do and see in Luang Prabang. This is a really, really great guesthouse - many thanks for making our stay so enjoyable!

Perfect location close to the morning market with rooms around a small courtyard, Utterly unpretentious, you become part of the Manichan family, sitting at a communual table in the garden eating a fabulous breakfast with other guests, exchanging view on travel, planning the day ahead. Attracts fascinating travellors. Rooms, small but clean and well equipped. Advice on visits, bikes available, laundry service. Early awakening with market preparation but quiet at night. Computer access available.

Had a pleasant stay at Manichan GH . Excellent located near the markets , although in a silent alley . Room was basic but spacy & clean . Free use of internet & bikes as a bonus . Breakfast was delicious and by far the best of my whole Asia-trip. Peter & his wife Manichan ( the girl with the biggest smile of the whole Asian continent ) do effort to treat their guests well. Look no further - stay here for great value!

We spent 3 days here and both Peter and Manichan were so very friendly and helpful. The Guesthouse has a lovely courtyard where an excellent breakfast was served which provided the opportunity to meet and talk to other guests. Our room was spacious and very clean and it was great to return and rest there after seeing the delights of Luang Prabang. I would highly recommend this Guesthouse.

The location is very good - central but in a quiet road. rooms are big with very comfortable. Breakfast is very big rich and beautifully served. You have free coffee, tea (many kinds) and water all over the day.
Somehow peter manages to get very friendly guests, everybody sits together for breakfast or coffee during the day so you can get a lot of tips and stories and freinds to share a tuk-tuk. To conclude - home away from home!
