You will generally need to make a reservation if you want to eat at this highly rated restaurant. Lovely location. Very efficient service. We rated the meals as some of the best while touring in Laos. Really enjoyed the sour dough bread. Definitely not the cheapest in LP but still reasonably priced compared to other destinations.

Being a vegetarian I have a lot of difficulty finding nice food without meat or fish. It is a particular problem in Laos where a lot of dishes use fish sauce. So it came as a pleasant surprise to find some good veggie dishes at this place. They even had a suggested three course lunch for vegetarians. The best part was the food itself. The roasted eggplant with tomatoes and feta cheese is the most delicious version I have had anywhere in the world. This is not a place I would keep visiting as the variety for vegetarians isn't much. Also, as others have said, itis a bit pricey.

We had dinner here and each ordered a set menu. The food was a bit of hit and miss. Some dishes (eg. baked eggplant, green gazpacho) were great, some were so-so (creme caramel could have been creamier, the amuse bouche was bland), others were awful (eg. watercress soup didn't have much taste, the 'elixir' was simply horrible) but we did appreciate the experimental nature of the green elephant menu.

Considering this, we didn't think the food was worth the money we paid for it.

If you visit Luang Prabang, you should not miss this restaurant as it serves excellent food. The restaurant is located in a smaller road and therefore, abside from the bustle of the main road...
