A tranquil setting with warm and inviting staff. Stayed in a comfortable and pleasantly decorated room upstairs overlooking the garden. Breakfast was fresh, and ample, with staff ready to provide more if requested. There was a small selection of books to exchange in the dining area. Wifi in the room was best near the doorway otherwise somewhat patchy.

It was a great hotel, very clean and modern. We had a balcony room which faced the street, great to watch the Monks passing by each morning at 6am.The Hotel is 100mts to the Mekong river and 150mts to the main street which was perfect. We enjoyed our conversations with Koud and Diaw the breakfast staff who served a tasty meal and gave excellent friendly service.Madame Owner/manger was also very friendly and helpful.Every Hotel would love to have a Office Manager like Ning,so professional so helpful and lovely. She went out of her way to make sure our stay was memorable, even taking us out to two local attractions on separate nights on the back of motor bikes (we are in our mid fifties). It was sad to say goodbye to her, she even came out to the airport to wave goodbye.Overall a great hotel, lovely staff, reasonably priced in a very good location. If i come back to Luang Prabang i will for sure stay here.Kop jai.

Stayed 5 nites. Didnt want to leave it was so pleasant. Great room, good size, comfortable bed, good location in the historic quarter, in a street between the river and the main drag. Website photos do not do it justice. We had a room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking a large garden to the rear. No street noise, very peaceful and relaxing. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Possibly best value accomodation in the area, if not in all of Luang Prabang. Cant wait to go back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear quieter, but no view of monks collecting alms in the am.

Lovely rooms, fantastic price, wooden balconies and beautiful wooden interiors.
Staff were extremely helpful and stored our bags for us for 2 nights when we went on a trip up the river then even moved them in to a new room for us in anticipation of our return.
Great central location, but nice and quiet. Good tv, cosy and beautifully designed.
Breakfast was quiet with a small but fine range of food.
Very nice feel to the hotel and excellent value.
Shower had a nice pebbles in concrete feature on the floor although this bothered me a bit as the concrete always felt grainy like dirt was getting caught there. However the room was really clean and all the guests leave their shoes outdoors (including in the lobby). The staff take excellent care and the lady who runs it is very charming and speaks fluent French (but not English) while the younger staff speak English.
We highly recommend this hotel - the staff really go above and beyond to help you and it is a gorgeous style. Thank you Villa Chitdara!

The rooms are delightful with wooden floors and plantation shutters at the windows. There is a verandah, ours overlooked the rear garden with all the tropical plants and the sound of running water (thankfully not from faulty plumbing as we have found in some hotel rooms).
Breakfast is quite limited and only just makes it but the breakfast room in the garden surely makes up for limited food?!?
Location is in a quite backstreet but 1 block from the Mekong in one direction and very short walk to town centre in the other.
Staff helpful with limited English.
Very clean. No SAFE in room and most distressing for me,NO hairdryer. This is the first hotel in INdochina without a hairdryer.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking back garden great but upstairs rooms overlooking street if you want to watch the m...

Villa Chitdara is exactly what we needed after staying for a few days in other parts of Laos at lower rated hotels. Everything was just as advertised or better. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating to our needs. The room was not huge, but certainly more than adequate for our needs with comfortable beds and a balcony overlooking their nice garden. The included breakfast served eggs-to-order as well as baguettes, jams and fresh fruit on a covered patio beside the garden. When we had a motorcycle accident and needed a bit more help getting around, once again the staff were very helpful. We were very near the river and within easy walking distance of the night market and other attractions. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms on the garden side are probably a bit quieter, but it is on a quiet street so it may not matte...

Stayed here for 4 nights. Rooms are quite small but the woodwork is amazing. Very French colonial feel with shutters on the windows.Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in the garden under a large patio and was most enjoyable. The location was very good - we could walk to most things in the old town. What an amazing town it is - hardly any traffic and feeding the monks at dawn was a very special memory. Do visit the UNESCO town of Luang Prabang as its quite unique.
