“Relaxed Guesthouse”

Lovely room, great breakfast. Wonderful gardens to relax/play in and great Gin and Tonics. Bit of a walk from town for our children but this wouldn't have been a problem if it was just us. Only one member of staff speaks much English but she is helpful and they are all very nice. A homely place.

I stayed in the Villa Suan Maak in December 2010 as part of a longer trip around Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. It was probably my favourite hotel as it was full of character and the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. We were a group of 5 and as a result were given the two rooms on the ipper floor of the guesthouse. These were adjoining rooms, one of which had a little balcony overlooking the front garden. The rooms were very specious with lovely (almost Moroccan style) furnishings. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms felt very cosy and homely. The bathrooms were wet rooms which I'm not normally a fan of, but I found this to pretty much be the norm in Laos. The owner of the hotel, Vianne, was absolutely lovely and recommended The Coconut Garden restaurant to us, which I found to serve the best food I have had in Asia so far. i would definately recommend this hotel (and also the Coconut Garden)!!

The staff here are wonderful, especially Vieng, who I think is the owner and is usually at, or around the front desk. Her english is perfect and she can help set up trips around the area and will even call people in other cities to help with accommodations.
We had planned to stay here 3 nights, but added an extra one. The rooms were clean, had AC, hot water, and your breakfast was also included. Free wifi internet and a computer to use. Sure it is not right in the busy area of the city, but it is QUIET. It is only about a 5 minute walk into the downtown area and well worth it in my opinion to have a nice, quiet sleep.
Excellent value for your money!!

I've been there 3 times on a 2 months period and really enjoyed this place. Suan Mark is a bit outside the crowd and the noise of the city center but only 10 min walking from the center. The landlady and her staff are really dedicated, kind and smiling. This is definitely a place to stay if you want to be outside of the crowd. there is no tv, but this is also enjoyable. The last thing is the breakfast, you will take it in the garden and it is excellent and included in the price.

Me (67) and my friends (couple 79/72) were very happy in the spacious 2 rooms on the upper floor for 7 and10 nights. Rooms had fridge, TV (with Deutsche Welle, CNN, BBC and many other channels), AC, WLAN, hot water in the bathroom.

Friendly staff, helpful female manager, speaking a very good English (and perfect Lao... ;-)). She can organize almost everything you could need about your stay or trip.

Breakfast included and freshly prepared.

I hope to be back again because I liked the peaceful atmosphere of Luang Prabang and the wonderful climate in November 2010 (sunny and warm in the daytime, cool in the evening). Great trip!

We stayed there twice, once in the upstairs deluxe room, then when we came back to Luang Prabang in a downstairs standard. The deluxe was very big and tastefully decorated, dark wooden floors. Bathroom not as nice as the room but clean. The standard room was also fine. The lady owner was lovely and attentive. We were initially worried about the longish walk to town but after a couple of days we had got used to the walk and didn't mind. Overall excellent value for money (we say a lot of other rooms in more central hotels so we can compare confidently).

Stayed here for three nights. Was part of an Intrepid tour but had the room to myself. Lovely place to stay. No TV or fridge but they do have wi-fi. Also have bicycle hire at fair price.

The rooms are quite small but very comfortable. The staff are exceptionally nice and help you with everything. They do laundry there but there's a place 2 blocks away for about 8000kip/kg. The location is a gentle 10 minute walk to the night markets. But everything in LP is reachable by foot or bicycle, so not a problem.

Only warning is there's a place a block away that hosts weddings. We had two weddings over the three nights. So be warned to bring ear plugs. You'll also wake up to roosters in the mornings.

They also provide breakfast.
