We stayed in this stunning homely estate overlooking the Mekong for 4 days and could have stayed there for weeks! The view, the atmosphere, the staff, the architecture, the design, the infinity pool, the garden....everything is beyond words and was exactly what we were looking for.
Perfectly located to discover Luang Prabang and its area it offers a heavenly retreat after a busy day out there. TukTuks could be conveniently booked to take us to the restaurants and bars in the evening a few minutes away and the staff was ready to help with anything.
The house was stunning and airy, the design and decoration is splendid and fully uses the local materials and traditional know-how but at the same time offers modern comfort if and when we needed it.
We can't wait to come back soon.

I was moved to tears when the first morning I discovered the view of the Mekong river flowing in front of us.From our terrasse, we could enjoy the beautiful, wild , mysterious river, full of its own life. The whole residence with its beautifully furnished, comfortable individual apartments, theswimming-pool, the trees and flowers, the kindness of the staff, the proximity of the Lao houses and people in the area, made our stay unforgettable. We used the bicycles to go to the center of Luang Prabang, it was very easy and pleasant. The town and the mountains around, the presence of the monks in the temples or in the streets make the place holy and magic and unique. We are already looking forward to going back, and highly recommand Mekong Estate.

If you're a bit skeptical about all the over the top reviews you have read about this place, well don't be.

It's as good as what everyone says it is.

Probably even better once you get to experience it first hand.

We stayed at this wonderful spot for 2 days and we wished we could stay longer.

The owner was simply very welcoming, the service simply perfect, the breakfast was delicious - if your're expecting a very big buffet forget it - and finally the apartments are one of the best places we've been around the world.

I can't recommend it enough, even when we stayed the Mekong river was almost dry and there were trucks passing by taking sand to construction sites. You can't miss it if you're going to Luang Prabang.

Our friends stayed in the Bamboo suite and my husband and I stayed in the Jade suite. Both overlooked the river and were beautifully furnished. The rooms have quite an exotic feel to them and as it was rainy season, the river was high and attractive to look at. ( I should say that the weather was very good whilst we were there) We were served breakfast in our room each day by delightful staff and there is the potential to have dinner cooked for you and served in the rooms or on the balcony. Free bikes, WiFi and a lovely pool add to the wonderful personal experience. Although it is a little bit out of town, it is easy to bike in, or catch a tuk tuk, or call a taxi.

We spent 5 wonderfull days in Mekong Estate in July 2010. The place is located just at the riverside of Mekong, villas surrounded with a beautiful garden full of flowers. The view from the wide terrace is breath-catching: Mekong and the mountains on the background - the best place to watch sunsets or rain and thunder over the top of the hills. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, equipped with AC and fans - giving you an opportunity to create the necessary temperature inside the villas. The decor is arranged in colonial asian style. The site provides you the best in LuangPrabang swimming pool - 25 m long, overviewing Mekong, enlighted during the nights. Fruits and toasts for breakfast are served at your own shady terrace, making your wake-up a fantasticly pleasant procedure. Managment and service stay at the very high level, hospitability is incredible.
