“Too expensive”
Reviewed June 17, 2010

If the accomodation was less expensive it would be an ideal spot but you can do better for the prices they charge

Ammata guest house was in a good central location just behind one of the Temples. We stayed for 2 nights, the room was spacious & clean (serviced daily). It had air con - although you couldn't open the windows so the room was a bit dark. However, the main door opened onto a balcony so plenty of light there. The staff were very friendly & helpful & they had on site bikes you could rent for a low price.
Overall a good afforable place to stay & I would recommend.

Ammata 2 is a very good B & B with clean rooms and helpful staff .
It is on a quiet back street , but within walking distance of the whole town .
Would recommend it to anyone who wants good value .

We arrived in LP by slowboat with two childeren (2 and 5) and wanted something comfortable and "quiet". We found it here. We had a large family room with 3 beds, a TV, AC, coffee etc. for 200000 kip. Not a bargain, but we found it worth the money..
The main Wat is around the corner. as are the riverside restaurants. The main street and nigh market are only an 8 minute walk.

It's not specifically a child-friendly place: no pools, toys etc, but it's a save place and the like children. (And LP doesn't have so many places that offer them more)

Breakfast and WiFi would be a nice next step..

The staff was extremely nice and helpfull.Somebody stole my wife's wallet and they recovered it for us.

Stayed 5 nights earlier this month.

The location is ideal, in the centre of town but just off the main streets so very quiet at night. Its also close to the Mekong. The alms procession goes by each morning, so you can just sit on the balcony and watch discreetly as the monks go past (much preferable to those people who stand far too close to the monks with cameras in their faces, really rude)

The room was clean and modern, shutters on the windows and air con. The owners very pleasant and made us feel at home. No breakfast but free tea/coffee all day and two complimentary waters each day. They have bikes for rent at $2 a day which were great for exploring the town and surrounding villages. A small garden at the rear is nice to sit in and there is wifi in the newer building (we stayed in the older building) but the signal also sometimes reaches there too.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

We have stayed here for a week along with our son and his family with a young baby. It is very good value, the rooms are spotlessly clean, clean towels every day, aircon and wireless internet along with access to two computers. The laundry service was very good and nothing was too much trouble for the family who own the guesthouse.

This hotel is a great deal, especially for $25.00 USD. It has A/C and a great shower. It is located in the center of town and you can walk to everywhere. they have also just opened a new wing (2 weeks ago) that is very nice. The only negative was that roaches were comin into the room through the shower drain. We put a glass over the drain and it pretty much stopped that problem. There is no TV but the A/C works really well. The people that run the guest house are very nice and are learning to speak english. Also, the beds were soft enough to be comfortable. We have found that some guest houses in Luang Prabang have extremely hard beds; like putting a blanket on a board. Overall, I would stay there again. This guest house has become popular fast and is Lonely Planets top mid-range choice. the hotel fills up pretty much every day so consider booking in advance.
