This is a terrific Victorian style museum. I was surprised to see an enormous statue of Queen Victoria sitting in state there. My Pakistani friends thought that the statue had been done by a bad sculptor because she was so short and fat. We explaine that she was actually ... short and fat lol. The museum has an eclectic mis of art and artefacts, many from the fascinating pre-history of the region. It reminds me of one of those 'Cabinet of Curiosities' type of museums and it's a good idea to set aside quite a bit of time to explore it. On the downside, the system of getting tickets at the entrance was confusing and chaotic and you have to pay quite a bit extra to take cameras in.

Definitely worth a visit when in Lahore - in an interesting colonial part of town, with lots to see. Quite popular with the locals too.

The Lahore Museum was established 1894. Lahore Museum is also located at Mall Road, Lahore. The present building of Lahore Museum was designed by the Sir Ganga Ram and it is the biggest museum of the country. There are numbers of heritage items are being kept here such as weapons, textiles, jewelry. People and especially students visit this museum and observe the old age things.

If you go there expecting a huge cultural or historical show, well this is not the place. You may like it if you are visiting any museum of the sub-continent for the first time though...
