I love going to Lahore Fort. It is one of the best places in Lahore if you are looking for a historical tour. There are tour guides who know their deal.. Yes it is crowded on weekends but its worth it. The Fort has many interesting sights to offer. For anyone visiting Lahore for the first time, i would recommend it as a must see!

Sadly very little evidence of any restoration or conservation since my last visit 12 years ago. The wonderful heritage here seems to be crumbling away in contrast to the amazing restoration work being done by the Aga Khan in the northern areas.

Thank goodness UNESCO and other funders are helping to restore this fort/palace. Even looted and damaged, it is clear that it was extraordinary. You can see and touch the carvings in the marble that were once filled with jewels. Enough is left to imagine the artistry, paintings, fountains, and carvings. You can see the bullet holes from when the fort was attacked. Highly recommend hiring a good guide.

This fort is not just a fort, it's a wonderful big place, where emperors lived a long time ago surronded by many beautiful signs. I recommend to use a guide to help you make a fast and richer tour (negotiate first).
