This hotel looks a bit odd from the outside as it is in a very busy part of town, with lots of construction going on. However, once you are inside, it is a wonderful oasis. The rooms are quiet large, with a small fridge and large bathroom. There is plenty of space to hang your clothes and a little desk and sitting area.
The traffic noise is a bit loud until you get used to it, but you are in the middle of a big city.
The staff are very helpful, but a bit reticent. As others have mentioned, the breakfast buffet is not as varied as others we had at similar classed hotels in other cities in Myanmar. If you do not see something that you would like, just ask and they will find it for you.
We had dinner here for 3 nights and loved it. The food was very good and the marionette show was fun. Before the show, a lovely lady plays the burmese harp and that is wonderful dinner music. The view from the top of the hotel is wonderful. Take the stairs instead of the elevator for a lovely look at some carvings and woodwork.

Room tip: Higher rooms may be quieter

We felt well cared for and very comfortable in this hotel. While not especially appealing from the outside, inside it's very home and staff were very caring as well as professional. The room was good-sized with a small desk with decent internet plus a sitting area. There was a slight mechanical noise, but not significant enough to keep me awake at night. the location was good and within walking distance of the moat and good restaurants. The rooftop restaurant not only had great views but good food - and we enjoyed the free puppet show there one night. In addition, they offer free snacks in the afternoon as well as a happy hour. I would definitely stay here again if I am lucky enough to return to Mandalay.

We really loved this hotel. The interior was so unique and beautiful and the staff very friendly! We enjoyed dining in the restaurant while enjoying the lovely view as well aa the puppet show. They surprised my husband with a cake for his birthday which was lovely touch. An unpretencious and quaint hotel we can highly recommend!

I have a lot of time for this little hotel. We had 3 nights here, in a deluxe room, which was US$90 a night. That includes a decent breakfast (we overheard someone complaining about the lack of breakfast options - there are plenty for a hotel this size.If you really want a huge breakfast buffet, go 5 star). Happy hour from 6-7 offers free cocktails, and the second the glass is empty they are offering more. Dangerous with Australians. They also offer free snacks in the afternoon. The staff are lovely and really helpful. Wifi is probably the best we had in Myanmar. I think the location is fine, there are a few decent restaurants within 10 mins walk and Mandalay seems to be very spread out anyway. The only issue is that the traffic noise is fairly loud in the rooms. We were on the 1st floor, with a brick wall in front of our windows - we were offered a higher level room and decided that the wall probably acted as a decent noise break. The traffic noise is there, so if you are noise sensitive this may not be for you. But overall I think this is an excellent hotel that I would happily recommend - especially at the price.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room was a good size and decorated in homely way. The facilities in the room included a good shower, safe although the lighting wasn't great.

We ate in the restaurant both nights as couldn't particularly spot anywhere nearby and walking was hazardous in the dark. The food was good quality and plentiful and one night we saw the puppet show. The breakfast however was slightly disappointing in comparison with not much option and no egg station. The happy hour cocktails made up for this!

We would stay here again if in the area.
