The Triumph Hotel is a lovely getaway in a city of skinny high-rise hotels. The compound of private bungalows gives you the feel of being away from the urban landscape outside. Most of the workers spoke excellent English and they were all polite, prepared, and professional.

The pool area is very well-kept and the breakfast buffet was an excellent combination of Asian and Western cuisine. The rooms are clean and tidy and the cultural show every night after the free cocktail happy hour gives you a flair of the Myanmar people.

I would definitely recommend a stay here especially if you are looking for something other than cookie-cutter hotels.

Great rooms and pool but the breakfast was let down by the queue the single toast, and no real orange juice.
The staff were exceptional - and the room really large.
The pool was nice and kept clean.

A nice touch was the puppet show in the evening.

We stayed for 2 nights in this hotel. The room was excellent - spacious with a large bathroom, seating area, 2 queen size beds, plenty of storage and looked out onto the pool. Our key card was a bit dodgy and we had to pop back to reception a couple of times to get it sorted but that was no big deal, the staff quickly fixed the problem on both occasions and on our last morning we threatened the door with a boot and it behaved itself!
The pool was very nice (a little cool in January, but it wasn't too bad once you were in) - have to say, both myself and my friend found the sunbeds not so comfy, they were wooden (probably teak as Myanmar has lots of teak) but no cushions so the only padding was a towel (provided by the staff at the poolside). The hotel was a little outside of the town centre (about 2km from the Palace) – as we were only staying 2 nights and really only had one full day there that wasn’t a problem for us – Reception were very helpful in telling us how much a Tuk-Tuk to the Palace would cost (3000 kh, about $2) and calling one for us. The breakfasts were buffet style by the pool hot and cold dishes, cereal, pancakes, juice, cheese, pastries and an egg station where you could get freshly made omelettes or fried eggs, etc. We also had an evening meal and a lunchtime snack which were perfectly acceptable. There was construction going on next to the hotel, but I didn’t feel that had any impact on our stay. All in all, I enjoyed my stay, however I think if we had been staying longer, I would have preferred somewhere closer to the centre.

Lovely large room that we didn't get the benefit from as we weren't in Mandalay long. The hotel has a nice pool, but the poolside beds are not comfortable!

The food is excellent, with lots of choice for breakfast, and plenty of snacks when sitting by the pool. The staff are brilliant, and helped us book a tuktuk for a trip to the palace. They also helped us change money and sort out our pick up. The cocktail hour and puppet show was also appreciated.

There is development going on next to the hotel, but the noise wasn't too intrusive. It did make the place a bit dusty though. Apart from that and the very uncomfortable pool beds this hotel is definitely a lovely place to stay.

Room tip: We got upgraded so not sure if the rest of the rooms are as large as ours.

Since it is bungalow type, Spacious room and private.
All though, there was no view from the room. we had pool view, but could see the restaurant on the other side that we could not have the shades open so still no view.
The service was good and the restraunt was very good with cheap price and big potion.
We could walk to town so good location too.
One minor point was that we could hear loud and not so pop music from outside of the hotel since there was a culture music festival. In weekends, it went on till 4, 5 am that we could not sleep well, but not hotel's fault.
