Tiny little hotel on the, well, Red canal( which is not exotic at the moment I'm afraid) which has a great indian Restaurant. Our room was rather small but functioned well and the staff were fine. Paying the bill with a credit card was a bit of a drama, make sure you have a visa because Mastercard goes over the very slow and unreliable internet. Pool is weeny but free cocktails at 6pm is a nice touch

Room Tip: Try and avoid 201, its small!

As others have posted, this hotel is a veritable oasis in Mandalay.
The positives include the most comfortable mattresses and the best sleep I have had in a hotel in years. Excellent, world class Indian cuisine in the restaurant at prices that would be laughable in most developed countries,
The staff are charming - nothing is too much trouble.
However, the hotel gets it's lion share of its business from over-priced package tour companies (thereby allowing it to play on Myanmar being a developing country, just opening up to foreign tourism etc) that the room rates are inflated versus what it could command in an open market.
If the hotel believes itself worthy of $250 to $300 a night before tax, then it's time to invest in better towels for the rooms and ensure that it has both gin and tonic for G&Ts at sunset.
The only other gripe, but worthy of mention, is the demand - almost menacingly - at check-in to pay for the accommodation up front for your entire stay. The hotel already has your credit card details yet it still insists on full payment before relinquishing the room key. Many will have arrived either by a flight at some unearthly hour or after hours of tortuous overland transport only to be denied access to a bath/shower/bed by a demand to pay in full for the next few nights' accommodation.

Room Tip: Avoid those with internal pillars

A lovely hotel on a small plot in a convenient location for sight seeing and restaurants in Mandalay. All rooms are unique with interesting, if quirky, features, some of which owe more to interior design than practicality. Our room was small but had everything you need for a short stay. The grounds and pool are attractively laid out and well maintained.
The staff were great, very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was good and in the evening the restaurant served excellent Indian food, if somewhat expensive by local standards, in a pleasant setting. The free cocktail party each evening round the pool was also well worth attending.

This was a great hotel… in a very quiet area. We had a downstairs room with its own balcony but we didn't have time to enjoy it. We did eat in their Indian restaurant and the food is very good. We actually did not spend too much time at the hotel as our visit to Mandalay was quite busy each day!

My wife and I had a great stay here, the staff are incredibly friendly and sweet, helping us with everything we asked them and even more. Our rooms were very cosy and the hotel as a whole is very pretty. Great food is served at the Indian restaurant on the hotel's premises, where breakfast is also served. I would just say the swimming pool area is a bit small, but then again I didn't go to Myanmar to sit by the pool; I went there to meet the incredible people and see the beautiful landscapes, and for that, this hotel is perfect - especially at night, when you arrive back at the hotel extremely tired from all the tourism, you can get a nice treatment at the hotel spa and crash in bed for a solid 8 hours of sleep.

Room Tip: If you want an outdoor shower, the ground floor level rooms have one installed in their back porch...

The staff here are wonderful - so friendly and so helpful. They even do a free cocktail party by the pool every evening and tea and nibbles during the afternoon. The spa is so relaxing for a massage. The restaurant serves a good breakfast and has a mainly Indian theme for dinner.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool with a balcony is good.

The hotel is nice - the buildings are great, the food ok, the pool - looked nice, but too cold to try. It is indeed an oasis in a dusty town. The service was good and attentive - however, suggest you research in advance if you need a guide - don't rely on the hotel to suggest one.

The hotel appears to cater mainly to older guests who have gotten this as part of their tour - i.e. who have not looked into the individual prices of their hotels (this is purely a subjective assumption). I found the hotel very much overpriced for what you get - and that says a lot in Myanmar, where hotels are generally overpriced.

I stayed in the Rakhine suite, which apparently was larger than standard rooms, but then it didn't have their balcony. The double bed was horrendous - in effect, 2 single beds put together with a thin mattress over it - the "double" effect was nonexistent.

If this hotel had been more reasonably priced, I would have given it a higher rating.
