“One big blow-out!”

If you need high end, this is it! It is lovely, elegant, good restaurant, nice staff, cocktail hour, and wifi. The linens were nice, the food in the restaurant was hugely diverse, and well made. Not a complaint to be had... except that it is very expensive.

Room Tip: Can't help you out here... our room was very nice. I suspect that they are nice, nicer, and spec...

The place is charming and well appointed. A great place for a quiet and relaxing get away. The staff was very friendly, helpful and pleasant. We had a wonderful time and would go back again. Loved our stay at this lovely place.

We stayed here during February 2013 and were delighted by every aspect of our stay. The setting of the hotel has been exquisitely designed to make maximum use of its garden with paths amidst the luxuriant tropical plants creating interest round every corner. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and very much enjoyed the evening cocktails by the pool, the opportunity for a swim, the restaurant, spa and extremely well appointed bedroom. The manager, Mr Pyae Phyo was very attentive and welcomed our suggestions.
The Red Canal is a real contrast to the other downtown hotels on busy streets.

Room Tip: We liked the ground floor room with sitting out area and access to the garden over a little bridge a...

We stayed here over New Year. The hotel is in a quiet residential area but is actually well positiioned for Mandaly Hill the Royal Palace etc and is on the right side of town for getting to most of the out of town sites. The hotel is nicely designed and has a more boutique feel than most of the other 4-5 star hotels in Mandalay appear to have. We stayed in one of the rooms facing the pool which is probably the better side to stay on as the rear faces on to what looked like a warehouse or garage.
As noted elsewhere, the rooms are small but not claustraphobically so and the bathroom is a reasonable size. Plus you have a small balcony. There is a large varandah available tio all guests with easy chairs facing the pool which is a restful place to sit and sip a cup of tea. The pool is small and at this time of year too cold for all but the brave.

The staff was very helpful. Our taxi driver managed to slam the car boot lid on my wife's head (not as bad as it sounds) and the reception staff could not have been more helpful and genuinely concerned with her injury.
We got first class help from Nilan on reception with our trips out of town. She was very conscientious and thorough in talking through our options and preferences to make sure we got what we wanted.
The food could be better: it's a tad bland and service was a bit haphazard. We mainly went to the Green Elephant (walkable (just)) which had much more exciting and authentic food (even if it too is solely frequented by tourists).
There doesn't seem to be a great choice of hotels as yet in Mandalay so this is probably the best option.

Room Tip: Probaly best to have a poolside room at the fronty of the hotel.

Lovely building, very attentive and pleasant staff. Quite small but lovely rooms. Bathrooms a little basic but okay by Burmese standards. Conveniently located and with excellent open air chinese restaurant 150 metres away. The hotel restuarant serves Indian food which is very good but it lacks atmosphere. Very clean hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure that you don't get a room at the far end of the corridors as the dog next door barks a...

Intriguing faux palace look. Full of charm, this hotel was built on a residential sized plot so nothing is on a large scale. We had 4 nights in a Chin Suite – very well appointed (if a bit short on space). Staff unfailingly friendly and helpful. A delight to be presented with a wet flannel and a glass of cold green tea every time we came back to the hotel. Complimentary cocktails every evening by the pool. Eating inside or out. Great menu with choice of western and Asian dishes, with excellent Indian food their speciality. A traditional massage in the spa highly recommended.

Room Tip: We would have had a bit more natural light if we had not been on the ground floor.

This is a small hotel with an inflated opinion of itself. In reality, apart from having a pretty garden, there are no other redeeming features.
Having stayed in 6 hotels in Myanmar on our recent visit, this was the only one that disappointed (the other 5 incidentally, were outstanding). The bedroom was poorly lit; the bathroom needed some renovation; the restaurant building totally lacked personality; the food was focused upon bland Indian food; the outside dining tables were wobbly picnic benches; the poolside towels were of an inadequate size; room service failed to collect lunch debris until requested to do so 8 hours later; and there was significant car and motor bike noise on two sides of the garden.

There were lots of smiling staff, which is not unusual in Myanmar, but there was no obvious management presence. Mandalay is a difficult place in which to find a great hotel, and this is certainly not one. If you lower your expectations, then this hotel will probably be adequate but it is certainly not deserving of the puffed up reputation which the hotel claims for itself.
