A lovely place to spend an hour or so at the end of the day. Lovely views are a given, but also the many interesting characters also visiting are part of the experience!

Just too bad on the evening we were there it was cloudy so no sunset view. Many foreigners just take a ride up to get the panoramic view which i found was not really that great. There an old temple at the hill but you need to climb up the stairways to really appreciate it.

dont miss the stairs, ice to walk them if you can or to take them in picture, some very nice spots and views and a nice view on the canal around the palace.

Everywhere in Burma there was a haze so views from heights were frequently disappointing. I would have liked to have had a bit more Second World War History here but there is only a small plaque to the Gurkhas who took the hill in 1945. Temple is average. The journey up the hill in trucks is a bumpy one.

Probably feels more of an achievement if you walk all the way up but we cheated and drove most of it. The temple at the top feels very Indian in style with mirrors and mosaics, and some touching tributes to fallen British soldiers in WW2.

The sunset views are certainly worthwhile, and the whole complex is massive and contains some interesting outlets. My favourite was the lady selling baskets of fried locusts: she was doing a roaring trade and was surrounded by tourists and locals alike.
