Perfect stay while visiting Mandalay! A high quality hotel with very comfortable rooms and courteous service. Big swimming pool and rather good restaurants- we ate the buffet at the restaurant and the food selection was really good. The bar and life music is a bit too loud though. The location is very good and the view from the room is beautiful! Walking around the gardens and pool area is so peacefull. I would reccomend a stay here!

A charming hotel that is right up there with the best of them. It's very professionally run.
The dining room serves a wonderful meal and breakfasts are great. Lovely pool and spa. A great place to stay in Mandalay

Room Tip: Insist on a room overlooking the hills and pool.

The arrival experience was fantastic with my name appearing on the welcome notice board- a nice touch! Check-in was smooth and courteous.

But it took me an hour or so to realize that something was wrong with the air conditioning in my 6th floor room. A call to the house keeping was immediately attended and the technician after a bit of fiddling assured me that things were in order. But I soon woke up sweating from my mid afternoon slumber! This time, I called the duty manager with a firm suggestion to change my room. This was also promptly attended and I was moved into a different room on the opposite side with a great view of the pool and hills. Above all, the room was already blissfully cool. Must thank them for the prompt response.

The pool complex is wonderful, and the Spa complex is beautifully done. Both the restaurants are quite good and the breakfast spread is not too bad. It was a quite time and service was prompt and attentive.

The internet connection was not great, but a vast improvement from the Bagan hotel.

The only disadvantage is the location. It is at the foot (had expected it to be higher) of the Mandalay hills and miles away from anything. Eating out was a challenge as there are no good eateries around.

Another experience to share. At check-in, we were told that we could use credit cards to pay (with a top up of a certain percent)! But during check-out, they said that something was not working and they were unable to accept credit cards. Could be a problem if relying to pay with your card!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool. Those are also cooler than the ones in the front.

On our return trip to Mandalay we stayed here. the service is excellent and there is a good hotel bar (rather fun in the evenings with a good, if occasionally too-loud, local band doing a great job of classic pop and rock ballads. The pool is huge; very clean and such a welcome relief in the hot season. There is a good choice of restaurants including a buffet (breakfasts in which were excellent) and their signature restaurant, Ming's (separate review written) which was very good.

Service was always excellent, smiling and friendly throughout the hotel.

This was originally a Novotel and is now owned by a Thai company. Rooms are a little dated and tired and in a process of renovation rewiring rooms to be more mobile device friendly (power sockets by the bed please!) would be appreciated. The hotel kindly left a laquer box of treats for me in my suite's salon, but these attracted insects. Well it is hot season in Burma, but this (and a couple of mozzie bites in the bar) suggest a more aggressive approach to pest control would be a good idea. By the standard of Mandalay hotels, this has the best free wifi we found anywhere outside of Yangon.

Room Tip: We booked 2 junior suites and were upgraded to exec suites with balconies and overlooking the pool a...

The hotel is well appointed but the room was a bit small.
The breakfasts were great. We had dinner there one night and found the restaurant a bit expensive for what you got.
The pool area was very nice with a view of the pagodas on the hill behind. This is very nice at night when the lights are on.

This hotel is all show. The hotel's architechnical design was a curved structure with the rooms on the inside of the curve being small (and with a view of the car park) and the rooms on the outside of the curve being a lot larger with a view of Mandalay Hill.
We had booked a Mandalay Hill view room but due to a mix-up were allocated one of the inner rooms. (So sorry, but we have just had a tour group and a wedding group take all the available outer view rooms). Needless to say we weren't happy, and there was no hint of a refund or other compensation.
Consequently, the bathroom was correspondingly smaller. The hotel is well out of town so one was forced to eat in the hotel or a very noisy restaurant (?) across the road. The restaurants in the hotel are very good - both The International, and Asian on the 1st floor. One compensation was that the wedding around the pool went to all hours and our room was on the opposite side of the hotel, and was sheltered from the noise. The breakfast was very good.
However, visiting Mandalay again, I would not stay at this hotel and stay at the Sedona for the same or less money. The Sedona is well in town and the city is an easy walk. People that we had met during our travels had invited us to the hotel for a drink and it was far superior in service and value.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Mandalay Hill have a view and are larger.

A towering structure at the foot of Mandalay Hill. Very impressive decor - Burmese style. Our room was on the 17th floor facing Mandalay hill, overlooking the swimming pool and the royal palace golf course.

The dining room was rather small compared to the number of guests. We could hardly find a seat when we turned up for breakfast.

The rooms are clean. The staff very helpful and most speak comprehensible English.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Mandalay Hill.
