This very big hotel is well located and super comfortable. The room, we were on the 7th floor, are large and well furnished, very comfortable bed and a beautiful view over the palace garden. The poolside is magnificent and the spa is extraordinary. The food is good. The breakfast buffet is perfect, as well as the dinner buffet. But a la carte menu is very slow in service and very expensive compared to the buffet.
What i do not understand is that they charge for wifi! All the other places we have been to, have free wifi zones!

Just spent three nights in this hotel. Impressive looking hotel with excellent staff. We had a corner suite which was large, well furnished, very comfortable bed, only downside was a slightly small and a bit tired bathroom that needs new towels. Very good b/fast with good selection of hot and cold foods. Pool large area is huge - and empty - everybody must be out on day trips! Behind the pool are beautiful gardens that are well worth taking a look at. Several temples etc are within easy walking distance, and if you're feeling energetic, rent one of the hotel's bikes to go further afield. All in all a hotel that lives up to the promise.

Room Tip: Go for a corner room for the extra space.

The Mandalay Hill Resort is a very big comfortable well run Western style hotel. Our deluxe room on the seventh floor was bright and spacious giving a wonderful view over the entrance side and the old palace. A large comfy bed, nice furniture, a large well installed bathroom where everything worked, we also appreciated the drawer safe, It was a matter of total indifference to us if the floor was laminate and not genuine teak.

Reception was efficient and friendly, good English was spoken, our luggage was taken up immediately to our room and taken down immediately when we left. I didn’t use the internet but would not have minded paying five dollars for twenty four hours. We did not view the television so cannot comment on the quality.

We arrived in the evening after a day of sight-seeing directly from the airport so we were quite tired and not up to exploring the immediate vicinity surrounding the hotel. which is a pity as we might have found a good restaurant serving local food, but I suspect we would have had to take a taxi into town to find something.

The hotel serves a buffet for forty dollars each which we found a bit over the top, there are probably packages with the buffet included, because most people seemed to be heading for the buffet and I can’t imagine everyone stumping up forty dollars a person. Perhaps there were other restaurants we didn’t see as we were there such a short time.
We ate outside on the terrace overlooking a lovely garden.
The a la carte menu was pretty limited, if I wind up eating a pizza, the menu is limited.

Breakfast, buffet style was by far the best we had in Myanmar during our two week stay, absolutely everything was on offer, just like a good western hotel.

We regret not staying longer in Mandalay there is a great deal more to see, we only stayed one night at the Mandalay Hill Resort, but if ever we return to this city we certainly would try to go back to this splendid hotel.

The hotel is located in a large and beautifully landscaped compound in the northern part of the city. It has all of the look and feel of an upscale hotel that you might find anywhere else in the world. Finding it in Mandalay was a real pleasure after experiencing more typical accommodations elsewhere in Myanmar. The rooms are large and well-appointed, and the beds are comfortable. The pool area is gorgeous and has a swim-up bar. The lobby restaurant serves both western, Thai and Burmese food. They make a great burger! Breakfast is very good. Internet is available for $5 per day though it, like internet everywhere in Myanmar, is excruciatingly slow.

The only fault with this hotel is its location. Being on the north side of the city, it is located a fair distance from most of the locations that tourists most want to see, such as the U Bein bridge, the Buddhist University, and the bamboo village.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool also face a number of temples located on the nearby hills. When we were there, the monks were chanting from dusk until dawn. This was a bit distracting.

Beautiful landscaping. Large rooms. The most fabulous pool setting that I have ever seen. A power failure, but I think that is normal in Myanmar. Nice, large rooms. Mandalay is quite hot and the AC was quite welcome.
