I got lost looking for another restaurant and i found in a backstreet this little jewel of a restaurant.
Located on the 1st floor of a building in a thiny street. Groundfloor is a shop selling ancient colonial mixed with local traditional stuffs, the restaurant follows the style looking like an old colonial terasse on the street decorated with old burmese puppets, carpets and so on.
The menu has something for every wish, the beer is cold and served in icecold glasses, the staff is friendly.
My best diner experience in 2 weeks Myanmar so far.

Walking distance from my hotel (Smart Hotel) is Rainforest restaurant on a little soi off 27th Street. Could be easily missed so watch for the sign on 27th and on the corner is a massage place. The cook is originally from Thailand who has been living in Myanmar for the last 13 years (gleaned from her daughter). I suspect she also is the owner with her husband. The food is excellent and especially liked the chicken with cashew nuts (I forget the Thai name of the dish). A lovely little balcony that is pleasant to sit and downstairs contains (antique?) things for sale. Friendly staff and good service makes it worth going to relax and enjoy conversation with you traveling companions over an ice cold bottle of Myanmar beer! I don't believe it is open very late and it's across the soi from Marie Min restaurant.

curries are not saucy enough, it is supposed to be thai food but not as tasty as thailand ! you can get better deals and better value meals anywhere in the city. The restaurant is nice tough, with a litlle balconey.

The Rainforest was the only restaurant open during the Water Festival. Therefore, we ended up almost every night there to have dinner. The food is really good and we tried quite a lot of the dishes on the menu. The fresh fruit juices are very tasty made out with fresh fruits. The ambiance is cosy and pleasant. The service is good. The prices are slightly higher than the local food places but definitely worth it.

It is on street 27, between 74 and 75 street.

I expected more after reading all the good reviews on here. The place is easy to find down a little alley way. The servings are HUGE so come hungry. I wouldn't say it's authentic Thai cuisine as their sign suggests. Penang curry was ok. Watercress was great. Might come back here - but don't go in expecting too much.
