To start with there is not much of a river view gracing the front of the Hotel. Right in front of the hotel is a fisherman slump. Also dont expect too much of a river view as the slump blocks your view.

To make matters worst the hotel is stuck in the north west end of Mandalay with no access to any transport any time of the day or night. If you need to go to the city you either have to book for a cab or hire the hotel car. Needless to say all these require extra charges on op of the normal ones.

There is nothing within on Kilometer from the hotel except slump dwellings. At night the roads are pith dark with no street lamps.

Unless you want to be imprisoned, stay away.

A safe quiet hotel but a little away from the Centre - we walked it in 20 minutes. Check in was efficient. Room was average with a/c but comfortable. Some noise from outside hotel at rear. Breakfast was average. Internet intermittent but free. Easy access to river boats but otherwise stay in Centre. Food expensive in hotel and you have no where to walk to except 10 mins up the river front (tourist restaurants). Not good or bad really.

Room Tip: High floor

We stayed here 2 weeks ago and liked it. Our superior room was on 3rd floor. It was big, clean and without bad smell of mustiness. Housekeepers cleaned the room every day and added soup, shampoo and gel. Breakfast is good enough. We were not hungry. But I would recommend to include fresh vegetables. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The previous reviews have some negative comments about surroundings but for us it was really very interesting to get to know local people better, their way of life. We took a lot of unusual photographs at the nearest market. Everything was OK except the early chanting from the temple, it started at 4 am.
If you need a taxi to go anywhere, ask a receptionist. They'll do all their best to help you.

the hotel is facing to the ayarwaddy river, but we dont choose the riverview room type cos it is over 90$. we chose a small and cheaper room.

the overall hotel decoration is not very new, it is old fashioned style. the roof restaurant is under construction.

the room is small but clean. but the bathroom is very old styled, poor and there was no hot water in the morning. but it is clean.

the breakfast is OK.

suggest re-constructing soon.

The rooms are good and big and very comfortable, good air conditioning. The bar on the roof is lovely at sunset but we were disappointed with the food in the restaurant. Try the coffe bar on the ground floor where the food is much better and also cheaper. You need a torch if going out at night from here, it is a good way from the town centre but worth it to overlook the river and to be handy for the river cruises.
