This is a fairly new, and popular mid range place right on the river. It was clean, friendly and relatively quiet with a nice location. My wife and I liked it. However, you can already see that lack of regular proper maintenance in some areas will send it the way of many similar buildings in SE Asia. As a friend once said, "A building's last best day in much of Asia is the day they open for business." No complaints though.
Rooms; Moderately sized, clean room. Parquet floor, small refrigerator, a small TV with a few foreign channels, and very comfortable beds. Plenty of closet space and hangers. Tile bathroom with a tub/shower combination. It takes awhile for the hot water to show up (again, a waste of resources). Even though there is a shower curtain the edge of the tub drains onto the floor next to the tub and eventually down a drain, but not all over the entire bathroom floor. Odd design, but it seems to work. Even though this is a fairly new hotel, and overall the bathroom was very clean, it appeared the shower curtains had not been changed or cleaned since opening day. Couldn't figure that one out. There is no safe in the room.
Breakfast; The restaurant is on the top floor with a fantastic view. Many choices at the breakfast buffet and eggs cooked to order. Cereal, fruit, rolls, breads, Asian noodles and soups and a couple of juice choices. As good a buffet as you will probably find in Myanmar.
Internet; Free Wi-fi throughout. Reception varies. It was great on the ground floor and the second floor but was weaker higher up.
Happy Hour; Believe it or not this hotel has a happy hour from 5:30pm-6:30pm which means they will give you a premixed whiskey and fruit juice drink. It was much more difficult getting just a plain glass of orange juice. I think they were trying to figure out how to extract the whiskey from the juice or something. Eventually it came (the plain glass of orange juice, that is).
Staff; Very friendly and helpful at all times and in all situations. They were well trained and experienced which is not the case at a lot of hotels these days in Myanmar with this new demand for employees. They couldn't have been more helpful.
