After destruction in WWII this palace was rebuilt in 1995 using forced labor under military junta rule. Although other world famous monuments (e.g. pyramids at Giza) were likely also built under similar circumstances, this felt too recent side it directly affected so many of the townspeople still present today. Perhaps in a few generations will be more appropriate to visit long after the lessons of the recent past have sunken in.
