“OK Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

Stayed here in late October - $20 room including TV and Aircon.
Hotel staff very friendly and location is OK.
Room was clean and bathroom was great - excellent shower with lots of hot water.
Only problem was mosquitoes - I got eaten alive. I tried to plug up holes in the windows etc., but they somehow got in.
A good place to stay in mandalay

The taxis at the airport know where it is and it's cheap enough. The roof is nice but can get hot so work with the switches to get the fan on and lights off for the night. The staff are helpful and there is wifi.

I've stayed here on two occasions when travelling to Myanmar. The staff are extremely nice and I really like the location. Several nice food-stalls in close proximity. I've opted for their cheapest room both times, which essentially is a mat on the floor, shared bathroom and a lamp, its cheap, clean enough but nothing more. You also get a thick blanket for those sometimes cold MY winter nights. Its simply sufficient, but I only recommend it to budget travellers, as there are far more comfortable acommodation options available in Mandalay.

Room Tip: The prices depend upon the lenght of your stay and your ability to bargain. Good luck ;)

What a great place. We stayed here two times in August. I am not much for Mandalay but you do have to pick a city as a home base when backpacking Myanmar. The hotel itself was nothing to write home about but the staff was extremely hospitable. They were always willing to help with anything and were very genuine. This is more important to me than if the wifi worked well and the room had aircon. There are no hotels in the entire country that have good wifi. We were able to get a room that had comfortable beds which is all I needed. If you are looking for a chill spot to crash and meet like minded folks ET is your best bet. Also check out the the two restaurants on 23rd st. The hotel staff will point you in the right direction. There is also a great spot just south of ET on the same side of the road. They have good food and fun patrons. Make sure you sit with a few locals for a better experience.

Room Tip: Ask for an aircon room. They are about $3 or $5 more but the wifi works a little better on that fl...

Stayed for a night, clean rooms, good aircon, good wifi (in lobby, restaurant & balconies) great showers (soap, towel, toilet paper included) good beds, good breakfast, good location - easy walk to Nylon icecream and the seriously delicious Mann restaurant. Also within walking distance of pickups to sagaing etc. Knowledgeable staff re organising tours or transport.

Currently under renovation but they're still serving guests so if you dont mind walking over carpenters and their business it's fine - you can't hear it from the rooms anyway.

stayed there for 3 days last week. Room was typical budget ($20/night for a single), no window, very simple, hot water was fine. Air con worked fine, tv not so much (but who is in Myanmar to watch TV). Wifi was decent enough on the balconies and in the lobby though not in the rooms I was able to get NPR to play decently. Management was nice enough and they cleaned the room daily which was a first for me, full of good information and helpful. Good transport options outside the hotel. Only problem was its a long way to decent eats

We paid $25 for a double room with air con and a tv, we only suffered 1 long powercut during our first night there and after that it was fine - but to be honest it is to be expected in Myanmar. Rooms are clean, beds comfy and bathrooms in good condition. The wifi worked well most of the time. The only downside is you are not near all the "nice" restaurants recommended in Lonely Planet, but if you are partial to street eating there is an awesome Indian just over the road from the hotel.
