marhaba salem is situated in an ideal position for the beach and access to sousse and port el kantaoui. rooms are comfortable and cleaned to satisfactory standard. restaurant staff were excellent making all of us welcome and friends. Animation team were brilliant including us in all activities on beach, in pool and evening entertainment... a holiday we will never forget.

Just got back from a lovely time at this hotel, but the confusing bit is which hotel you will be staying in as there are two on this complex - the MARABA ROYAL SALEM and the MARHABA SALEM. We stayed in the Marhaba Salem which is nearer the main entrance. The hotel was very nice, the rooms are basic, a large lounge to sit in and enjoy a drink. the all inclusive food was OK, didn't always have lunch but the evening meal was very nice a good choice soup rice, pasta, potatoes, couscous, veg, meats, lots of salad, fruit, icecream and the puds were lovely as the are french based. the food was always fresh and hot. If you miss lunch you could always get pizza and chips from the beach snack bar or sandwich in snack bar and freshly made pancakes. There are 3 pools, but couldn't always get round them so we spent most of the time on the hotels private beach. We found that if you asked the lifeguard to reserve you a sunbed he would, we left our towels with him every night which he laid out the next day, so no early morning fights !! Hotel was one hours walk into main area of Sousse with lots of shopping (Medina) and site seeing and one and half hours walk on the beach to Port El Kantaoui (a Marina) with more site seeing & shopping. If you don't do walking the taxis are cheap or you can use a noddy train or a tuk tuk that run between the 2 resorts. Local bus into Monastir only cost about 70p. Over all this was a good hotel being quiet central if you like to get out and about or just lay on the beach and chill.

Arrived at hotel late in the evening with my sister and we were shown to our twin room which consisted of a very dated and tired room (appeared to have been built in 1970 with no refurbishment) and had a double bed. It took three days to get the twin room we paid for and our Rep had to help. Reception staff are so rude and unhelpful, appear to be on a permanent 'go slow'. It appears we were in the 'old block' and our new room (that we got three days into our week Holiday) was in the 'new block'. This room was better, still very basic and cramped - we had three beds pretty much side by side (there was only two of us). Dining staff were friendly and we were all inclusive, food was okay - breakfast very poor and food got repetative even in our one week stay (thankfully we are not fussy eaters so did try everything). Bar staff are so rude, on first night we practically had to beg for a bottle of water as it was three minutes past midnight when we got to the bar after checking into our very basic room (had expected to have water in our room, but no). Soft drinks are warm and often flat, wine is like vinegar and there is only really beer, vodka and whiskey included, then a few very odd liquors. You get a tiny plastic cup of whatever drink, it takes ages to be served and you have to sign for everything you get (despite being all inclusive). Staff expect to be tipped and it seems you have to reward bad service in order to get service! Water is warm even though it's in the fridge and it's really hard to get a sunbed unless you get up at about 6am and towel guard one. Tunisia is a nice place, beach was nice and weather lovely, the location of this hotel is good, however, I would avoid this hotel and I would stay in a better * of hotel also as this was in my opinion at best a 2*. The Royal Salem seemed nicer and this area of Tunisia between Souse and Port El Kantaoui was an ideal location.

Hotel Marhaba Salem is a nice and clean hotel at the beach i Sousse. The hotel pool is invitingly refreshing and you can also use the outside and inside pool at the neighbouring hotel Royal Salem. The staff is friendly, and taxi's are waiting just outside the hotel area to drive you to the centre of Sousse, a 5 min drive away. I would without doubt recommend this hotel if you travel as an "all inclusive" guest. If not, be prepared for discriminating treatment from the staff. You will have to wait for a table in the breakfast area, and you have to move from that table if an "all inclusive" guest is arriving. At the beach, you can't order and pay for spesific beverages, because you are not an "all inclusive" guest.

We were a little scared to go to the Maharba after reading all the reviews but we need not of worried as this was the best holiday we have had...rooms are a little small but we managed and as we were looking onto the main pool where the entertainment took place everynight we thought we might not get any sleep but at 12pm everything stops and is nice and quiet..food was excellant with good choices even for my 9 year old...snack bar opened until 11:30 if you feel a bit peckish later on..Pool guy was great he has worked there for 38 yrs we tipped him on our first day and we had the same beds for the 2 weeks we where there.. he took our towels away at night and he put them back on the same beds every day (great no running around first thing in the morning)..
Animation team are fantastic big hello to Alex,Amen,Kemo and Ash who work there socks of from first thing in the morning until last thing at night 7 days a week with no days off through June,July and August for a pittence of a wage.... and some of the shows they put on are sooo funny especially the quiz night (not to be missed). we never left hotel at night as there was always something on some of the shows were a little naff but all in all great . Eddy the bar manager always had a big smile on his face and tried really hard ....bar staff do need some training as there where usually 3-4 behind bar but only one serving with one on the till could be better managed..drinks are in small plastic cups but order 2-3 drinks each when you go up and saves you having to wait in line.
laura our tour rep was great and helped out with any problems really quickly..
All in all we had a great family holiday and will definatly be going back...

This was our 8th stay (2nd this yr) love the friendly staff all over the hotel, the animation team are brilliant, thanks for lots of fun and laughter. Waiters do a great job and didnt even have to ask us what we wantted to drink as they rememberd our order. Reception staff very helpful and even let us in to our room at 6am when we had been out on the town...maids kept our rooms nice and clean and the special little touches were very nice. Thanks.
Food always a different selection every evening.

Cant wait to coem back in september.
