“Authentic Tunisian food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

We ran into this place which is located inside the medina. We didn't think much of it at first but what they were cookibg in the open kitchen looked and smelled so good, so decided to stay for dinner. Soup (amazing), salad, and a plate of beef skewers and rice set us back 12 dinars pp. Will be back!

“Im from Tunisia And It was one one of the finest experiences”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

Hi all,
Im Tunisian 31 Yo from Sousse and went to this "touristic" restaurant... Never thought that one day day Ill be glad with such an experience ... Im tunisian 100%... even my wife is tunisian ... but I really discovered Tunisia when I went to this restauraurant.... we were watching "Ribat" when eating "REAL" tunisian food... you can never eat real Tunisian food while in tunisia except if you are invited to a dinner with a well known Tunisian family... the chiefs on hotel restaurants simply dont cook such food ... its our real Traditional/contemporary/Modern Food...
If you really want to see and taste what Tunisian food is all about ... just go there and ask to get entire entire menu if you are a group or just just chose random things to see what Our tunisian food is about...
Ask for Hassen, he's the manager , he studied on prestigious english universities... he just want to change tourist vision about "Touristic" traps :P on Sousse...
Sorry for my bad english hence it's my third language...
No traps, no bad deals... just enjoy

“A food experience to savour!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

El Khella is situated just inside the medina overlooking the Ribat. It has a wonderful ambiance with its traditional decoration. A section of the roof slides back, giving a nice indoor-outdoor feel. A perfect spot to sit back and people watch too. We had been travelling four weeks in Tunisia and found Tunisian food tasty but repetitive. At El Khella we had dishes we had not tasted before, the tastes were delicious with a delicate mix of spices. Some dishes are traditional but others were a surprising traditional- contemporary mix. The service was friendly and welcoming, and I was given the recipe for the saffron rice!

“Unique experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

From the moment we entered the restaurant, we felt very special. Everyone greeted us very warmly and recommended some tasting Tunisian dishes as it was our first meal in the city. My friend is vegetarian and the menu was really flexible and suitable for her too!
The food tasted delicious and the combination of the friendly staff with the scenery, decoration and music was a perfect first experience in Sousse! We then met the manager and understood the nature of this great place, he is a lovely young men who spend some years in England so we could share some pleasant stories about that time.
One word: "Magnifique!!!!"
Hoping to go back soon!

“Great food/service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 15, 2013

Discovered here after a recommendation from a staff member at the hotel we were staying at - and what a lovely surprise!
Great authentic Tunisian food. The stews in particular were very flavoursome and bold. The warm bread accompanying every main course was a bonus.
We ended up eating here consecutively for the next 3 nights.
I must also mention the service, which was particularly friendly and welcoming, and by the 2nd evening we were all on first name terms, aha.

Overall, a great place to dine and interact. Well worth a visit!
