Visited Hotel Tour Khalef from 13th to 27th August 2006 with my husband and 8 year old daughter.
We could not fault the hotel. All the staff throughout the hotel including reception, bar staff, waiters, maids etc, without exception, were friendly and helpful. Our room was plenty big enough even with the extra bed for my daughter and there was loads of wardrobe space. Linen and Towels were changed daily. The pool area was wonderful and was kept clean and tidy. There was never a problem with getting a sun lounger - we got to the pool/beach at various times of the day from mid-morning to early afternoon and we always managed to find one with ease.
Our Thompson Rep, Jacqui, was extremely helpful and the Kidzone Reps, Jodie, Claire and Kate were wonderful. The hotel run Divi Club ran regular activities throughout the day including aqua aerobics in the pool and on the beach plus water polo etc. They also ran a mini disco and show every night. There was a hotel run kids club which seemed very good and they even took the children into the little pool and did aqua aerobics with them.
Whilst there were two sittings for breakfast and dinner this was not a problem. Although we were first sitting for breakfast we did not always make it for that sitting and there was never any problem with arriving late. In addition whilst we always made the first sitting for dinner another couple told us that if you spoke to the Head Waiter it was not a problem to change sitting if you couldn't make the first sitting any night. There was repetition with the food (there always is on half board over a 2 week period) but it was always plentiful and hot.
We went on the Cruise on the Wild Side with Thomson - good but a little too much time in the wildlife sanctuary and not enough time on the boat (could have done with more time swimming) and the camel caravan. Prefered the camal caravan sold by the lad at the back of the hotel - better value for money!
Watersports excellent - my daughter and I enjoyed the para sailing and the "Big Marble" and the cost was very reasonable.
Staff in hotel shop very helpful and not pushy! Bought some lovely jewellery at extremely cheap prices.
Tunisia, Sousse and our hotel felt extremely safe. I went out of the hotel on my own one evening after dark and felt comfortable doing so. Wherever we went my daughter, who is very blonde, was made a fuss of which she was very relaxed about because everyone was just really friendly and helpful.
Hotels is ideal for all ages - Divi Club and Mini Divi Club run by hotel provide activities during the day and entertainment in the evening. Thomson Kidzone was excellent and provided day and evening sessions for children up to 12. Music was played by the pool during the day during Divi Club sessions but not excessively loudly. We never heard noise from the evening entertainment but we understand from parents with older children who managed to go to the evening shows that it was very good. Bar area was clean, cool and quiet - very relaxing and peaceful. Pool was kept clean and tidy with plentiful sun loungers - no problems with people reserving them with towels.
We loved Tunisia and the Hotel Tour Khalef and cannot wait to return. I would have no hesistation in recommending this hotel to anyone it was absolutely brilliant!
