We decided to go to Tunisia as it fitted our budget, we can't afford top end but with a bit of research we came up with El Ksar. Myself, wife and two children, 12 and 17 set off not knowing exactly what to expect haveing not been fully inclusive befor. Firstly when we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised both at the hotel and the service, as we filled in our registration cards fruit cocktails arrived at our table. The room had recently been refurbished to a high quality and was both spacious and clean, special mention at this point to the maid who even placed flowers on the beds:) . Get to know the animation team (especially Meno) these guys are fantastic with both the sports and evening entertainment but also local knowlage. We traveled with First Choice and the rep never actually turned up, the animation team gave us all the local knowlage as to where to visit and were spot on. Food was a concern my daughter is very fussy so we didn't know what she would eat, again the staff stepped in and she seemed to get her own personal pizza chef for the week leaving mum and dad happy to tuck into the wealth of other food, this was a mixture of local and European fodder and very tasty. Down side of El Ksar is the morning sun bed race, if you want to be by the main pool I'm afraid it's a four o clock start! However the pool lifeguards do seem to be able to find something for late arrivals even if its only a chair. Would we go again, a most definite YES.

We had a great experience at El Ksar. The hotel and the rooms were very clean. The staff was super friendly. And the pool and beach were great.

We were visiting family, so we most of the times we ate outside of the hotel. We're not really into all-in food like fries, spaghetti, pizza, etc. But they offered some Tunisian food that was really good. Besides the daily grilled fish, harissa, etc they always had 3 Tunisian dishes.

The hotel is also perfectly located in the middle between Port El Kantaoui and the City Center. Taxi's will drive you there pretty cheap. Near the hotel you also have Rue Des Palmiers which has little shops and Tunisian fast food places where you can grab a bite.

Room Tip: Ask a room with sea view.

Right, first off, I'm not usually one for writing reviews but felt I had to for this one. My partner and myself booked this holiday september 2012 and went with our 5 year old daughter. We wanted an idea of what we were in stall for, so kept checking trip advisor. I was rather shocked at some of the reviews and thought about booking somewhere else, as people seemed to moan a lot. Well I can honestly say that some people clearly won't be happy with anything no matter what, as our holiday was AMAZING !

The hotel was clean, the staff very friendly and location couldn't have been any better !! THE best holiday so far, and I've had a few.

Don't be put off by petty people on here whinging. So what, you have to queue sometimes for your dinner, jeeze if that's all you have to worry about you need to get out more. Just time your dinner right and there are no queues.

The Maids clean the rooms every day and everyone was polite, from hotel reception to groundsmen.

KIDSCLUB, WOW what can I say 11 out of 10. Absolutely fantastic !!! Our 5 year old loved it, couldn't get her out. The staff are so so fabulous, especially jeejee !!! Mini disco every night and I've even bought the cd of all the songs which has been played to death since being home lol. So many different activities.

ENTERTAINMENT crew, can not fault them, very friendly and always so full of energy considering the amount of hours they work. Archery, French bowls, darts, water polo, aqua aerobics, Zumba and stretching all on offer every day and all so much fun !! And the evening shows were incredible lots of dancing and very funny sketches !!!!

Beech incredible, but I'm not one for the sand, but beautiful.

Only downfall was the jelly fish, not big ones and the sting is like a stinging nettles, but nothing major so no bother.
AFRICAN DREAM trip, really enjoyed this, and quad biking, which we got through an independent guy at the hotel. Kantaoui quads were their name and for 90 tnd (£36) all three of us went on a run for 2 hours. Excellent trip and worth the money.

BAD POINT, I'm sorry to say, was that there was a shortage of sun beds by the pool, and I'm not being rude or racist at all by this, but it was the Germans and French who were up putting out towels at stupid o'clock. My partner had to get up the first morning at 0230 and half were gone. The hotel doesn't enforce the no towels policy before 6am, however our friend samir (sammy) the life guard got us beds every morning. Sammy is wonderful, so friendly and helpful, we do miss him. Please say hi to him as he just wants conversations with people and isn't just wanting money.

TAXI, be careful as they will take you for a ride pardon the pun. You must agree a price before getting into the cab. From el ksar to Port El Kantaoui its no more than 7 tnd so don't be fooled, and 6 to Sousse. Be firm with bartering but give a little extra at the end.

We are now going to book for next year as it was such a brilliant holiday and the hotel was fabulous !!!!

Don't be taken in by the rants on here, we loved it 12 out of 10 !!!! :0)

Second year in a row here and still had a great time! Last year, they were undergoing lots of renovations and the improvements were noticeable this time. Nice grand driveway and lobby, really sets the scene of the hotel and the great grounds. It has it's own access to the beach and you can see how much effort the staff put into the surroundings.
Swimming pools are clean and loads of fun. Pool staff are friendly and are always up for a few minutes chat. Big shout out to Aymen working at the Dragut bar. There was a big group of us running him ragged but he kept a smile on his face and did a fantastic job. Definite gem. Lunchtime food at the Dragut was always good, panini's, pizza and chips mostly but a nice break from the restaurant.
I personally wasn't a fan of the restaurant but that's just me. It's clean, has a big variation but as always with all inclusive, it gets repetitive. Bearing in mind however that they cater for numerous nationalities, they do alright. Even though there was a big group of us, everyone found something they liked. The pizza guy was a good addition to the restaurant too. Only downside was a couple grumpy staff, normally at breakfast (had to ask for cutlery etc) but most of them were great.
The rooms are basic but clean, but they all have new flat screen tv's and are slowly being redone. Wifi was an added free feature this year, not the best signal in places but you're on holiday people- get off your phone!

As last year, it was the staff that really makes the hotel stand out and our holiday that much better. As mentioned, Aymen was fantastic by the pool. The entertainment staff were great, Mimo, Fallousa especially, but Bruno aswell. Always up for a chat and a laugh and helpful with any questions. They learnt our names, took the time to get to know us and really made an impact.
Saving the best till last though, bar staff on the terrace. Walid and Hichem were fantastic. A true asset to the hotel and go above and beyond to make our holiday that much better. They remembered us from last year and were the same true gents again, making us feel welcome and helped us enjoy our time. Cheriffe was a new great addition to the team aswell.
The staff work long hours in the hot weather- and were doing Ramadan, yet still 90% of them provided fantastic service, so yes, we did tip, not because they expected it, but to show our appreciation to good service and a job well done. A little goes a long way, a smile and a thank you.

El Ksar management should be proud of their staff and the improvements they have made. A few things they are still working on which I wish them all the best for and can't wait to visit again. A holiday is what you make it, so no something's weren't perfect but it was definitely a fantastic holiday and I can't wrap my head around the negative reviews.
