“Excellent service - Animation team Rocks!”
Reviewed January 9, 2012

The Hotel is just 5 min from the beach and there are 3 pools in different locations. There's also an inside pool with a Jacuzzi next to the gym. The gym has old equipments but you can do your own training or join their daily Aqua class with Hamdouche which was really good!

The best with this Hotel is the Animation team (entertainment team), they are really friendly and they really make sure that all guests have a great time. They have a lot activities for all ages and they are not pushy, they leave you alone if you don't want to join in. If it wasn't for them I probably would have had a nice quiet holiday but they made it FANTASTIC!

I believe the facilities are being updated as there was painting and refurbishment going on, but this didn't affect any of the guests. Can't wait to go back and see the outcome. Have no complains on the food - love the salads and the pasta! But they did repeat the same meals which could sometimes be boring. The TV's only english channel is a fuzzy BBC World News but I guess you don't really watch Tv so much when on Holiday.

Once again the Animation team delivered an excellent customer service!

Room Tip: Choose a room that's not above the night club (which is on the lower ground floor). Corner suit...

My daughter and I have just returned from a restful break at the el ksar, we found our room to be adequately furnished with all we needed for our stay, with good views over the pools and sea, fortunatly due to the poor weather, the balcony was a suntrap until noon, so I was at least able to get a passable sun tan. the maid was very friendly and cleaned the room daily, meals were basic and repetative but tasty and on the whole very well cooked and presented. Well done to the staff who went all out for The xmas eve banquet ( although some potatoes with the roasted meats and sprouts would have been nice ).
well done to Ramsey, Hamdouche and the rest of the animation team, who all worked very hard to ensure that all guests were well entertained and occupied, There were building works going on in the hotel during our stay, but weren't intrusive in any way. overall decor and furnishings were good. bar staff and waiters were hard working and friendly and many thanks to Walid Bedoui who ensured all drinks were reguarly topped up. I would recommenda a visit to the Moorish cafe, a very chilled enviroment, and the staff were helpful in teaching me how to smoke shisha..........lol . My main critism was after travelling over night ( our flight was @ 6am ) we had a 3 hr wait for our room, on arrival and the hotel was no where near half full, after deciding to bed down in reception after being told a dozen times " 10 minutes " we were rapidly shown to our room........ there were few english guests and my 19 yr old daughter was the only one in her age group, a lot of elderly germans, and a group of very noisy Poles other than that the majority of guests were Tunisian, Perhaps Thomas Cook could promote the hotel more. I personally would return for a break, but my daughter is not so keen.

Just returned from a week here. Weather awful which meant spent much longer in the hotel than we would normally have done. First the negatives. Carpets and rooms looking very sad and needs a total overhaul. Our air conditioning(heating) didnt work and the room was freezing. Cleaner was very helpful though and got us extra blankets. Poor lighting in room and husband got an electric shock off bedside light. Only 2 electric sockets in room worked, one of which was in the bathroom. But on the positive side, the hotel is currently undergoing structural work and the new management are spending a lot of money on upgrading it. In a few months it should look good. Staff here are lovely, we didnt come across one who wasnt helpful and friendly. We were there for new year and the gala evening and drinks was included in the AI this year. A good night and the staff worked really hard all evening. Always something nice for meals and deserts really nice. Lots of fresh fish, mixed grills and fresh pasta at lunch and dinner and freshly cooked eggs for breakfast. Not many english people there but enjoyed the company of those we met. Although there are a lot of terraces to sit out on, this is quite a large hotel and it doesnt look like there would be much room when the hotel is full, certainly doesnt look like would be enough sun beds, but perhaps the new management will sort this out.

We travelled to Sousse with Thomas Cook and the flights and transfers were very good. The Hotel was very large but in need of refurbishment, especially the corridors.
The food was quite good especially the salad selections but the hot food was always lukewarm and not the best. The sweet selection was wide with very sweet cakes and ice creams on offer.
Staff in restaurant area were very good and helpful, the bar staff were less friendly and not very happy. But the all inclusie drink selection was fine.
The hotel caters well for children with a very active animation team always evident. The entertainment was limited and not very good. Overall it was good value for money and a nice break.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool usually get the sun some of the day.

Nine members of my family arrived at the Karthago on the 23rd of October 2011 for a one week holiday booked through Thomas Cook. On arrival we were not very impressed the reception was very dull and we were allocated the wrong rooms which were not ready for us anyway. We were led to the dining room for lunch, the tablecloths were dirty, the furniture was old and the food looked such poor quality that some of my family wouldn't eat it. When we finally had our rooms the furniture was again old and worn the bedding was dirty with dodgy stains. We immediately contacted the our rep who with no argument offered to change us to another hotel. The move was like a scene from a carry on film as we were advised by our rep not to inform reception we were leaving just to get on the bus when it arrived which we did but the receptionist realized what we were doing and along with the manager attempted to stop one of our party from leaving without paying for three nights stay.eventually the rep sorted out the situation and we moved to the les oranges beach resort which was what you would expect a four star hotel to be. We finally started our holiday and had a great week.
