“The best Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

We have made our honeymoon in Orient Palace. When we late in the evening at the hotel checked in the restaurant already and us bekammen had still closed something to food because the adoption has exerted itself for it.

The animation team is the best one what one experience is able, Illyas, Ramzi, Kiko, Salem, Maya and also Sabri have always smiled.

Food has been diverse and something was always present, the desserts were best.

The chambermaid has cleaned daily, and the service at the bars was really friendly.

The pool arrangement was clean and Was always attentive the Poolman and brought mattresses for the couches.

We will come again!

What I liked the most in Orient Palace was animation team. An excellent programme during the day, such as water polo. darts, beach volleyball, aqua aerobics and so on. Animators accompony all the activities with their positive, smile and they make your staying in the hotel devine. Orient palace is good for people who want to have holidays with their friends and to spend an excellent time

as said this is about a 3 star hotel not 5 average hotel but above average stay the check in took over an hour then we found they had no booking for us and then they put us in a room usually used for the staff, very small but clean.
The next day we were moved to a very nice room but the cleaner did not clean the tiles in the toilet and they had an unmentionable amount of marks on the walls of someone that does not know what toilet paper is for, the rest of the room was kept acceptably clean and we were happy with it we were in 432 and looked out onto the waterpark next door and beach view as well. The pool could do with being cleaned a bit more but was for most of the time acceptable. The restaurant staff need to learn how to act with guests but only the young members of staff the older gentlemen were well trained and very smart and when we called something to their attention they did their best to sort it out, they were also very busy so we expected delays and still enjoyed it but they do not cater for the English saying that we loved loved loved the potatoes every way they cooked them. The animation team well what can I say they worked very hard for the hotel and are a credit to them D.J Sam Kikko Maya and Seiko Seilko (donkey donkey) we found them to be very helpful and friendly now the manager of the animation team ok at his job but a sexual preditor so I pointed out to him my goddaughter is only 16 (if you want to know anymore then please contact me) the position of the hotel is very good we had a great time and we will be returning here as my goddaughter has informed me she has met the love of her life here time will tell, but Kikko is a lovely young man. Maya we found to be a lovely girl who I hope we stay in touch with and Sam was very friendly. Beach towels you pay at the reception desk for a card then collect them from the towel man by the pool and the sunbed man he was lovely one of my favourite people there he always found us a bed and mattress no matter what time of day he works so hard and always had a smile. I could say so much more it is well worth going here but don't expect 5 star and as we paid 3 star that was ok so thank you very much and if the management would like to contact me it would be a pleasure to speak with you.

Room Tip: higher the better we had 432 and was happy with it

The hotel is a littel worn down, but everything is in working order. It is situated right on the beach, where you have the possibility to try paragliding behind a speedboat, jetskiing, banana-boats etc. at very reasonable prices. The staff on the hotel are very friendly and helpfull. Especially the Animationteam, who are responsible for entertaining the guests is fantastic. The do wateraerobics, water-polo, volleyball, dart etc. in the daytime, and every night they put on a different show. The are really good, and have a geat sense of humor. They really do their best to show everybody a good time. And for the youngest kids, they have al sorts of games and fun. We had a great time. It is good value for money.

The hotel is very nice with crazy nightlife. What I liked the most was animation - the best animation I have ever seen. Excellent animation as for children as for adults. Animators are very positive, frienly, cheerful, charming, I will remember them for a long time. The hotel is multinational, so if you want to make friends all over the world, welcome to Orient Palace.

Room Tip: Choose the room not far from the main lift (near the reception)

This has once been an amazingly beautiful hotel, but needs some serious investment to make it 5*, or even 4*.The reception area is impressive and the gardens well maintained, but its all downhill from here! The food is awful and most of the guests we spoke to got sick. We have travelled extensively and are savvy as to what to avoid, foodwise, yet still got violent cramps, the runs and nausea. Comparing notes with other guests led us all to the conclusion that problems in the kitchen were to blame, rather than any one dish in particular, as we had all eaten different things at different times, but all got ill. After complaining to the management, we were allowed to eat in the "a la carte" restaurants every night, after being told nobody else had complained, which we knew to be untrue! Problem solved, you may think, but this is not "a la carte" as we know it - no choice, poor quality, and badly cooked Reasonably, you would expect "The Pizzeria " to serve pizzas or italian food, likewise, "The Oriental" to serve oriental, but no, we got fish and chips in "The Pizzeria", and chicken/liver kebabs in "The Oriental".By the second week of our stay we were eating out every night, but this was also problematic, as it was during Ramadan, and a lot of places were closed. This will incur conditional expenses in cab fares,as well as food costs as the hotel is not in a central location.
The staff work very hard, but are a law unto themselves! My 18 year old daughter was relentlessly hounded and propositioned by the waiters and bar staff, to the point where she felt intimidated, even in front of us, her parents! Shocking! Contrary to other reviews,we found that good manners, consideration and patience got us excellent service, rather than tips. The Entertainment do their best for adults but there are no planned activities for children apart from the minidisco every night, even though daytime activities could easily be adapted to include 10-16 yr olds,.Children are seen, heard but ignored in this hotel.I witnessed a few serious instances of rudeness to residents during my stay here, but without knowing the full circumstances I will reserve judgement. However, as an employee of a major hotel group in England, I know that I wouldnt get away with it!
The family room we were allocated was spacious and adequate, with two balconies on the far corner of the building Unfortunately.one of the balconies was unhygienic due to the vast amount of bird droppings, while one day we came back to find filthy water and bird droppings had been brushed off the roof by staff members onto our drying clothes on the other balcony.
How could this be allowed to happen when these particular guests have already complained of illness which they believe to have been caused by the hotel? The electronic keys constantly fail to work which is no fun when you have to run back and forth to reception from the furthest room in the building, whilst desperate for the toilet and knowing that reception staff will keep you waiting for no obvious reason.
An overall view? Some of the reception staff are lovely, some of the waiters are lovely, likewise the barstaff, but some are sexual predators towards teenage girls and all are let down by ineffective management Our holiday was ruined by how ill were and we feel cheated of experiencing Tunisia as we were stuck in the hotel for 8 days of our fortnight. My advice would be to avoid this place.

Room Tip: we had family room 161 which has huge corner position and nice and quiet but a trek from reception

This is an honest candid review. This hotel is a 4* not a 5* by UK standard although it may have once been but there are signs investment is needed to bring it up to scratch. The clientele is very mixed, lots of Eastern Europeans, French etc. Suitable for families and couples not ideal for younger people.
Reception - staff can sometimes be surly although not all. We were asked to pay £20 to upgrade to a sea view room. This is optional. Our room wasn't ready until 1pm despite the hotel not being anywhere near full.
Wifi is free in the lobby area, you get a slip of paper from reception with a user name and password although most of the time it was broken during our stay. I believe wifi is available in most rooms also.
Bars - there are 2 bars. You need to sign every time you get a drink but you can get as many as you want on all inclusive. There were no diet drinks until half way through the week and brandy is not available on all inclusive. Sometimes there are queues but there is waiter service at the lobby bar but you can expect to tip for this.
Food - I'm not a fussy eater but I struggled at times. Breakfast choice is poor, little fruit or cereal, big queues for fresh eggs, of course no pork so no bacon sausage etc. lunch and dinner is much the same lots of dishes with meat on the bone in sauce and often the same dishes night after might. Desserts are fantastic. The waiter service is mixed. If you go in later expect to wait a while until someone will arrange a table for you. I've had better food in 3* hotels but then it caters for foreign tastes. There are 3 on site separate restaurants you can book to eat in on the all inclusive package but they serve a very limited menu unless you're paying for the normal menu. Daytime snacks are virtually none existent with the exception of pizza served from 3-5 in the pizzeria.
Tipping - watch out for the porter who takes your luggage to your room. When offered 2 dinars he said this was too little, this is actually the going rate. Tip your maid at the beginning 5 dinar then again at the end and she will look after you. Free soft drinks and water were left. Night clothes turned into fancy shapes etc. tip your bar man 2 dinar each night and you'll get good service and the waiter as and when you feel.
Rooms - spacious, carpeted. Very hard beds and pillows, lots of robes but only 6 hangers. Air con very good and you can leave it on when you leave the room.
Pool - large adult pool and shallow children's pool. All clean and very warm. Also a heated indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Lots of sun beds. The pool guy will get mattresses for you for a small tip. Towel hire is available via a card purchased from reception for 20 dinar, refundable.
Beach - plenty of free sun beds nice and clean, lovely shallow waters. Plenty of water sports available. Tip - book with mustafa. He will introduce himself around the pool. You'll get a better deal.
Entertainment - Illyes and his team try hard. Daytime entertainment is good. Lots of games, aqua aerobics etc but the evening entertainment is quite poor.
Useful hints - prepare to eat out a few nights. Haggle for nearly everything. Tip for a better level of service.
Improve the food and evening entertainment and it would be a cracking hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from nightclub noise, i was often woken at 2am.
