“Friendly hotel”
Reviewed May 8, 2009

Stayed here for 1 week in May all inclusive in the Royal Jenine (4 star part, Jenine is the 2 star part). The rooms were basic and not up to a UK 4 star hotel standard, but were very clean and had what you needed. If you are a couple the beds are 2 single beds pushed together. The rooms were quiet as the disco is in the standard Jenine hotel part. I say disco, but actually its really just the animations team and many kids in a bar area on stage. I found the food to be good and there was lots of choice. There is a Chef there every meal with one item cooked fresh for you (eg on the grill, fried etc) plus 5 or 6 other main dishes and desserts. Only thing I didnt like was that you have 1 table for your entire stay and if you are 2, you must sit with 2 strangers, even though there are many empty tables..... could be OK depending on who you're sharing with.
Its about 4km from the centre of Sousse and the beach is almost non existant but the pool area is good and the staff very friendly. Would go again for the price that we paid.

arrived at Jinene and found we were upgraded to the Royal Jinene next door. This was amazing and i would go back again. Ideal for families - the food was great especially the pancakes and choices available, the chefs funny! staff friendly, a quiet location and 5 dinar into sousse. My father is in a wheelchair and had no problems as ramps and lifts were in place.

Beach small but you can walk along left or right to bigger ones. Our room looked over the local landowners veg patch with the sea and palm trees close by. Please buy your camel trip off Habib on site as he is lovely - as were all staff and service. I cannot wait to return.

we just came back from Tunisia, stayed for 1 week had a really good time. enjoyed the hotel very much it has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, park and beach and lots of entertainments for the kids and adults. Breakfast was really good and so was the dinner. staff at the hotel were very good and friendly like chef pallou and Khalid. the night entertainments were the best there was a mini disco from 9:00pm - 9:30pm then entertainments for adults the entertainment was by Walid who works there he is very good and loves kids and keeps the place lively. i would really go back there again and stay in the same hotel. if you go please say hi to Walid and all the staff from Zenaib and the crazy frogs......

When we left the airport and we were going on the coach was a little worried as everything looked flat, and dusty. Got to the hotel, and it looked really nice, shown to our room be the extremely friendly man, and the room was basic but clean. Food was great, especially loved the breakfast, pancakes were exceptional!

Also loved having the cats around the pool too, they are so cute. Loved this one little kitten that constantly sat next to me in the bar on the evening.

Daytime, just lazed around on sunbeds around pool, or beach. Got tired of the the constant selling of camel ride, but couldn't do them as i was pregnant at the time. Entertainment was ok, during the day, was amazed that the locals always wore jackets, and it was soo hot!

Shopping was an experience, always too eager to help, sometimes a little too eager, hated the Sunday Market, locals were very pervy, especially the older men.

Hotel though was outstanding, never had one complaint, and i loved the food too. Would most definately return here, as it was a great holiday, although some times were quite as it was tho locals Ramadan season, but brilliant!

This hotel was excellent for the budget holiday we were after. Staff were very friendly and nice. Room cleaned everyday. The restaurant staff made you feel extra welcome. Excellent value for money. During the last day they make you feel like royalty (table will be with candles and decorated). We will surely go there again :)

Arrived after an 8 hour delay from manchester and had an early breakfast about 5am............. not much to choose from except the much needed coffee.

It was our honeymoon and the recptionist changed our room from North facing (scrub land view) to East facing over pol and sea............ excellent, except as the pool view rooms are above the night time disco (kids and adults) and the ebtertainment, do not expect a quite evening and night overlooking the sea and sunset............. however thunderstorms are fantastic at night.

Room cleaned daily and are acceptable with friendly staff.

Hotel very basic with poor quality buffet meals and bland food. Last day was best with fresh spag boll and decent chunky chips. Beakfast with not much choice and onbviosuly catering for continental guests. cheese, cold meats ect. Don't expect cooked unless your fond of eggs and the occasional pancake.

Hotel is situated close to the main road btween Sousse and El Kantoui. We had visited Tunisia 5 times and knew where we were. Sousse was 4 TD by taxi and less then1TD by bus. Likewise PEK was the same distance. Monastor was a further 1TD+ by bus and was easy trip.

If you visit Sousse, ensure you vsist the Rebat within the walls and speak to Fauzy, he;'s always there and devotes his life to the cats that live in the area. He accepts what money he is vgiven and buyes fish from the port to feed and care for the 20+ cats. His photo plus 500 taken on this trips are available at my Kodak album (email me for links) dafudd@gmail.com -plus- links to Sahara and 6 prevous visits to tunisia.

The holiday was good with excellent weather and the unforgettable 2 days away at the sahara.

Although the hotel has a decent sunaea with free sunbeds, the pool was gruby and the bed matresses cost 1TD daily.

The beach has lost it's depth over the last 2 years with very little beach left before the sea and the limited space is quicky taken up. The sea was always warm and crystal clear.

We enjoyed the proximety to all the good entertainment places (Sousse, El Kantoui and larger hotels) The trips were quite extensive and he best being the Sahara trip - although 800 miles in 2 days and 40% in the coach was a bis exhausting.

In all dissapointed as the other 5 trips to Tunisia took a lot to beat.

Email me for photos at dafudd@gmail.com for photos and any advice/info.
