“BRILLIANT FOR THE PRICE”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

i have stayed in hotel Kaiser about 6 times in a year or so. It is perfect, we always get it at cheap price and we have never had a problem!

We always check in early 10am and are always given a key and not waiting around. Staff are so friendly. Food is basic nothing cooked just the eggs, basic continental style food.
The rooms are clean Sheets and towles changed everyday! Wifi in the rooms!
Its not expensive to drink either.
There are alot of locals that are there, but mixing with Foreigners its a lovely atmosphere.

The only thing is the pool is so small and really DEEP!

I booked and paid for a room here but didn't tactually stay here. It was so inexpensive as to be unbelievable. I checked in and gave them my online voucher which cost $4 to print at a Souse Cyber Cage for a $9 hotel room reservation including breakfast via Travel Republic.

I took this beautiful elevator with exterior windows to my room on the 6th floor. The elevator trip up was itself really interesting.

The room was spacious, had three beds, full bathroom, large window overlooking the pool and was quite clean allowing it was also quite spartan. The bedding was pretty basic and the sheets pretty inexpensive but everything was clean and comfortable.

I has read reviews about “sketchy” goings on so I went back later in the evening to have a look. Everything appeared quite proper to me. A few old cougars with their young gentlemen, but that is to be found in any hotel in Tunisia. Some day I will see an old Tunisian with a young tourist and burst into song from the Broadway Musical “I Still Believe in Love”

The next morning I went back to check out the breakfast and again, it was basic but adequate: fruit; yogurt; boiled eggs; cereal; milk; as much as you wanted.

I went and sat in the lobby and looked it all over carefully and thought "What is the issue here?'

This place would be easily a four star if they upgraded the furnishings; bedding; and linens.

The problem? The decorating is simply awful, far too busy with far too many colors which makes it all look worn out and tired and dirty, which it isn't. It is just very poorly colored. If it were all painted “beige” and better quality furniture acquired it would be graded 4 Star.

A 4 Star Hotel in Sousse is an affordable destination for lower socioeconomic travelers. Pay $8 a night and you tumble down the social scale. The worst thing that could be said about Hotel Kaiser? Its foreign clients. Certainbly these people could be truly wonderful people, they just looked terribly poor as they puffed away and drank their drinks through the tobacco stained teeth they had left in their mouth.

I have stayed in this hotel on mulitple occasions but i wont be staying there again. The rooms were dirty and bed linen not changed. The only time the bed linen was change was when were told all the linen off the bed on placed it on the floor with the towels. The cleaner was very unhappy and did not smile thoughout the holiday. She didnt even reponse when you said hello. We asked her to clean the floor but she just moved the dirty around the room. I also had some items of toiletires go missing which is most unnerving!!

Stayed here October 2011. From the reviews we were slightly aprehensive, but there was no need to be. The hotel is family run and the staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was adequate, but would advise that if you are going to have a city view room (also can see the sea) that you ask for a room above the 5th floor as the traffic sound can be quite loud whilst sitting on the balcony. The back rooms get the sun all day long - but no view. I think they are rennovating the hotel from the top floor down. I asked to see rooms on the 8th floor - and they are fabulous. They are modern, clean, new doors, shiny floor tiles and glass basins on washstands etc.in the bathroom.

Breakfast was the same every day - boiled eggs, cheese triangles, croissants, yoghurts, french bread, butter, melon & Tea/Coffee - very nice - you can pick and choose to make a daily variety. You could bring some nice cheeses, or whatever you fancy into the restaurant. Go to the local supermarket Magasin Generale near the Medina (sells reasonably priced alchohol except on Fridays - the holy day).

The pool area was small as expected. The beach was just down the road. The sea is lovely and clear water - safe and great for swimming.

The bar and reception area is nicely decorated but quiet at this time of year. We did not use the hamman facilty as it is not our kind of thing.

Please note: There were no prositutes, homosexuals or drugs? We were most disappointed. Ha ha ha!

All in all it was a nice place to stay and as a base to discover more of Tunuisia.

Room Tip: Get a room as high up as you can - above the 5th floor give better views - both front and back.

I have made over 30 visits to Sousse and the surrounding area over the past 11 years and this is the worst hotel, I have ever stayed in, in Tunisia and the World. It was cheap but not in any way value for money. It was Ramadam so the hotel was not very busy however we had paid a premium price as it was August but the service we received did not in any way reflect the price we paid. The room was not clean, the bed linen was not changed daily. In addition, my son 'lost' his mobile from the room. So be careful!!! The food for breakfast was dry and had sat in the heat for hours and the table linen was not changed from day to day. The food for the evening meal was not a buffet as advertised but served in the snack bar next to the recpetion area. We were not given any choice of food but were told we could not see the menu by 'Little Hilter', the waiter and we had to have what we were given!! Not really what you would like for a holiday as it made every meal time a real battle. To make meal times worse and very uncomfortable, we had to sit in the restuarant and watch the all of the hotel staff eat their dinner before they even acknowledged or served us. It may have been Ramadam but during this holiday we stayed at two other hotels and did not have to experience any of this behaviour and service. If this is your first trip to Tunisia, please do not judge the standard of the hotels, the experience and the welcome on this one.

We read mixed reviews before we left the UK & were a little dubious, but our room was airy, clean & comfortable, with a big balcony looking over the street. We could see the beach & the sea at the end of the road - about 5 to 10 minutes walk away. Our towels & sheets were changed regularly. Great water pressure & loads of hot water in the shower at any time. Lovely Hammam in the basement - we had 2 whilst we were there - massage, jacuzzi, steam room etc - very relaxing! There's a pizza restaurant attached to the hotel. Pizzas pretty average, but great roast chicken rolls - very cheap & tasty! The staff were helpful. Fresh croissants for breakfast every day (on the 5th floor with nice views over the city) plus cereals, yoghurt, fruit. Safety deposit boxes in reception. The pool is clean but not much room to sunbathe because of shade - we used the fab Tej Marhaba Hotel opposite (10 Dinar per person per day - about £5 each) as there's a lovely big pool there & loads of beds & umbrellas. We'd much rather stay in smaller hotels like Kaiser though. The lifts are glass & on the outside of the building - we enjoyed the views! Good trips out to Carthage, Tunis, Kairouan, Monastir, El Jem etc. Best restaurant is about 5 mins walk away - L'Escargot - the chateaubriand with Bernaise sauce is possibly the best steak in the world! Good local wine called Magon too - we only had the red, but it was great. We had a lovely relaxing holiday & didn't want to come home!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 105 & loved it!
