“Nice cheap holiday!”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Thomas cook= Faultless & only 3hrs not 3hrs 45 as we were expecting
on landing however we were waiting 2hrs to get through immigration = DISGUSTING and when you did get to the front they were rude!

Nice welcome on arrival, Clean, nice room though needs some updating. Maids cleaned daily and always had fresh towels.

Great esp sun bed guy by pool, We gave a small tip on first day and were looked after every day with 3 sun loungers waiting for us and no need to get up super early. We did tip a bit but didn't find the attitude of the staff to be any different if you gave no tip.
Entertainment guys were fun and while we were happy to lay and watch there was no pressure to get involved at all.

All looked okay, Though some odd dishes served at breakfast (usually previous nights dinner??!) good selection of food with lots of options been cooked fresh in front of you. Whilst over there my partner was ill and was room bound for a whole day & night, Then the day after we came home I was taken in to hospital with a severe infection & Gastroenteritis!! However it was not clear where I had picked this up from.

We paid a very reasonable amount for this holiday and as it was mid August we feel we got exactly what we paid for.

Overall a good holiday, although I wouldn't return and the only reason for this was that I was taken ill.

We travelled from Cardiff as family of 4 ( two girls aged 7 & 5) and chose this hotel after reading the numerous good reviews. I have to say, we were not disappointed! We booked via 'On the Beach' and had very good all inc deal. Good flight times, however this holiday company book each part separately for you and our transfer via 'jumbo shuttles' took much longer than the 30 mins stated at booking, as they seemed to hang around at airport waiting for other flights to come in (waited for about 45 mins before we set off for hotel). That is the only negative I have to say. The hotel is spotless, the staff are so polite and hardworking. The food was lovely with plenty of choice and a fair amount is freshly cooked in front of you. You get use of sister hotel facilities, although we didn't bother as we were more than happy to stay in our own part. Some helpful bits of info that you may need to know;

You should be provided with a holiday visa form on the plane to complete ready or your arrival. It's only a few details off your passport etc that's needed. Passport control on arrival can take a little bit of time (abt 30 mins of queuing for us).

It's a closed currency, so you cannot get dinars until you're in Tunisia. When you arrive at Enfidha, porters will come to help you with luggage to your coach and its expected that you tip. Make sure you have some £1 coins on you for this. They will ask you for 'paper money' but most only tip £1. I did see plenty of people refusing the porters help, but just remember the average wage is abt £4 a day there, so a quid to help you carry your bag is peanuts for us, but a great deal to them.

The hotel has a lovely shallow pool for little ones and a larger pool which gradually gets deeper as it sweeps round to the left.
The pool bar is self service for beer/soft drinks, but barman for spirits.

If your all inc, you can choose between 2 different dinning sittings. They'll ask you to do this when you go for our first meal, and they will allocate you a table which you'll keep to for your entire stay. Again I'd say to tip your waiter who is allocated to the area your seated in. We did so on a daily basis, just a couple of dinar each morning, and he'd always have our drinks waiting or us when we got to our table.

The pool man will get beds and cushions for you and will put them wherever you ask. If you tip him, he will have them ready for you in the same spot for each day of your stay.

There is a snack/drinks bar down by the beach for your use.

There is a snack bar situated in the main building that serves late breakfast/afternoon tea and late dinner. It's buffet style and if you enter from the corridor side of main building, the buffet is on your right as you walk in (we only spotted this late into our holiday as its kind of behind you as you walk in and easily missed unless you're having a good look around).

There is a hotel run kids club, run by Souzzi. It's very laid back and the kids club room is lovely and cool. The animation team were great, and not too pushy. If they could see you didn't want I get involved, they'd leave you to relax.

The gym is quite decent and is situated to he left of the main entrance of the hotel as you come out. 3/4 running machines, various weights machines and also free weights. It's not air conditioned in there and it's in a sort of large conservatory, so you get very sweaty, very quickly. There is no water machine in there, so grab a big bottle before you head in.

There's a small souvenir shop and the staff are not pushy in the slightest.

We had a standard double family room which had a double bed and 2 singles all in the same room. It's ample in size, but basic.

In all, we wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel and we're quite picky having 2 young girls. The Marhaba Beach definitely gets the thumbs up from us.

Arrived August 22nd after midnight and were welcomed by 2 grumpy people (receptionist and porter). After a first inspection of the room, we were very dissappointed (dirty sheets, bathtub obstructed, crooked toilet..). After a friendly complaint at the reception we received a nicer room with sea view the next day (very nice lady at the reception!). Although the sheets were still stained, the rest was acceptable. The meals are generally of good quality and there is quite some variation. However, the fish is often undercooked (maybe that's the reason why I was so ill for 2 days). The restaurant (furniture) is really due for renewal (blistering paint, the tablecloths not ironed... doesn't really give a fresh impression). The "BBQ" on the beach: very pleasant to eat overlooking the beach and the sea. The BBQ is actually one type of meat being grilled, the rest is buffet (same as at the restaurant, but more limited though enough). The "à la carte" dinner in the Snack Bar is a nice interlude (table service) and was very tasty.
The rooms are quite dated (2nd floor), and neatness could be better. Maybe a tip to the cleaning ladies would have helped, but everyone expects to get a tip (every day). In the end, it get's quite expensive.
Very friendly waiters (also very happy receiving a tip), always welcoming you with a smile.
The life guard is willing to reserve your loungers, after a (big) tip. We gave him 10TD to reserve the same loungers for 10 days, which he did.
If anyone stands out, it's the animation team. They have an inexhaustible energy! Always kind and smiley as well. Timo, Zico, Axel...they were all great! The "Yummie, Yummie" man (Omar Sharif) makes superb smoothies, worth the price (3,50 TD).
The pool is nice and clean, though the water level is deep and you need to use the step to enter/get out of the pool. Many people with small children felt it was rather dangerous.
Overall a lovely holiday, thanks to the strong positive features.

I wasn't expecting a five star hotel when we booked this holiday, firstly because if was fairly cheap for 2 weeks and also just because it was Tunisia - however, it was a pleasant surprise. We arrived around 3am after a delayed flight but were checked in quickly and was escorted into our room soon enough.
The breakfast was lovely with the continental options, cereal or fresh pancakes/omelettes which you could choose what was in it. You could have lunch in the main restaurant or on the beach, both had similar food but there was always something to have. Dinner was pretty much the same, meals were repeated alot but like I said there was always something to eat. Fresh fruit, cakes and ice cream were available, I must have put on quite a bit of weight with the amount of ice cream I ate. The waiter we had was amazing (we named him Alan because we couldnt say his name), always had our drinks ready for when we arrived. We did tip him a fair bit but he did deserve it.
The pool and bar were well preserved and always clean. The beach was gorgeous, the only downside was near the end of our holiday the beach became very busy and often ran out of loungers. We tipped the lifeguard near enough everyday for our first week so presumed he would reserve loungers for us but didnt and he became quite rude after we stopped tipping. My advise is to go down early with towels if youre going in end of june or later, the beginning of june wasnt too busy.
The animation team were great, there are plenty of sports to get involved with and they are very chatty.
Another point that we didnt realise was they dont turn their air con on til mid june even though it was 30+ degrees so the first week we went was hellish but the air con was soon put on after I presume a lot of complaints.
Our rep with Thomas Cook was lovely and we went to the zoo and El Djem with them, we felt well protected and welcomed which was nice.
Another plus side is this hotel is owned by the same people as a few others its around which means you can use their facilities too.

Overall a lovely 2 week stay and it has changed my opinion of Tunisia for the better. I would definitely go again and I am even thinking of going back to the same hotel next year purely because of Alan.

We travelled to this hotel on the 21st August and left at night time on the 4th September arriving back in england early hours of the 5th.

We travelled as a group of 9. 5 Adults, 1 teenager and 3 kids (one of whom is only 2 yrs old)

When we arrived at the hotel, one of the kids decided in their wisdom to leave their travel bag on the coach which transferred us from the airport to the hotel. We spoke with reception and despite it being midnight, they done everything they could to sort out getting the bag back.

Hotel -

The hotel itself was very nice. The rooms were more than big enough for me, my wife and our full of energy 5 year old who woke us every morning by jumping around like a nutcase. The bedding was immaculately clean and was cleaned daily. When the sheets were off the bed, i had a good look at the matress which was brand new and spotless. They also had a matress protector on their to make sure that it stays that way. Towels were changed daily and the room given a quick clean over. I must admit that i did feel a bit sorry for our maid as we are not the tidiest of people on holiday (i like to get out the room as quickly as possible)
The bathroom was clean and if i am being very very critical, this was the only part of the room that could do with a bit of updating. Please Please get rid of shower curtains, they freak me out. Overall, i was more than happy with the rooms.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner -
I was very impressed with the food. My son is a fussy eater but he always had a plate full of food every day. There was always plenty of rice, a variety of meat dishes, fresh cooked flat breads in the evening, fresh cooked pasta/spaghetti, fish, veggie options, fresh fruit and beautiful deserts with plenty of ice cream. The waiters were good as well. Our waiter was a really lovely, smiley old man. He was brilliant and by the 4/5th day he was bringing us our drinks without us even asking for them. Not once did he expect a tip but he was so lovely that i tipped him 1 Dinar (40p) daily and sometimes more. When we left, our family tipped him about 30dinar and he was over the moon.

Pool -
The pool was, well... a Pool. It was big enough for everyone and more than deep enough for people to dive and have a good mess around. The childrens pool was a good size and they could happily play around all day. Again if i was being critical, the childrens pool is in a curve around the outside of the pool bar so if the kids get playing and wander around the other side, they go out of sight, so i did feel like i was reguarly having to get up and call for the kids to come back around the other side again.
One thing that i found annoying about the pool was the holiday makers! If you want to sit smack bang in the middle of a childrens swimming pool, expect to be splashed by children. Please dont sit there tutting and pulling faces, if you dont want children anywhere near you then go to a couples hotel. Children dont understand that water will kill a kindle, so leave it on the sun bed.

Entertainment -
The animation team were really good and work really hard. There job must be so hard when you have lazy sun worshippers like myself who dont like to do anything other than sit all day long.
For those who do like to participate their is water polo, archery, darts, french bowls, beach football and beach volleyball. They also do a little celebration dance at 3pm which gets people ready for activites again.
The evening entertainment is also good however they need to work the planning of the entertainment over a two week period so that there is less repetition. The cabaret shows are good fun and they change every time. Clearly a lot of effort is put in to the cabaret shows. They also do an indian show which consists of loads of women getting up on the stage and standing on some bloke with his face pressed up again nails and nail beds. Call me grumpy but i find this type of thing very boring especially the second time around.
The kids Mini Disco is excellent and all the kids in our little party really enjoyed it every night.
My only criticism is when the transvestite show is showing on a saturday night, there is no alternative entertainment. Either you pay 20dinar per person to watch the show or nothing.
The animation team are a credit to the hotel and without them being there, it would be a bit boring. If the management read this, please give them a bigger budget and really let them show their stuff.
For any over protective boyfriends/husbands out there - the team are not pervy and wont harass your girlfriend/wife.

Bars -
all of the bars were really good and the waiters were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. The bar around the pool area had a bit of a smell to it, when i say a bit of a smell it STUNK. This was caused by muppets who decide to have a drinks fight around the bar causing a mixture of orange juice, strawberry juice, lemonade, coke and beer to sit in the mud under the small hedges which seperate the bar from the pool. I had a quick word at reception about it and before i knew it, they had put all sand on top of the mud which give the earth a chance to soak it all up and got rid of the smell. Again this was only a small issue which is not the hotels fault and is caused by typical british tourists.

Overall -
Generally i was really impressed with the hotel and the whole holiday. My son loved it and we struggled to get him out of the pool most days. My niece who is scared of everyone and would run for her life was even joining in with the kids mini disco and was happy talking to the staff. For me, my wife and son we paid approx £2700 for two weeks all inclusive with first choice. Money well spent. For me, i had nice food, plenty of drink, 9 days of hot weather (unfortunately we had 5 days of clouds and thunder storms) and a lovely sun bed. If you want to tip the staff you can, 1 Dinar is more than enough but dont believe that you HAVE to.

Would i go again?

Yes, without hesitation.

Room Tip: Pay that little bit extra for a sea view, they are breath takingly good.

well were do we start.....the only word we can use to describe this holiday is FANTASTIC!!!!!
We were recommended to this hotel y family who held there wedding here, we had heard it was stunning and your guaranteed to have a great time so we decided to book up and check it out for ourselves.
We travelled on 21st August 2013 to the 28th August 2013 and we had 7 nights all inclusive.
On the day of arriving we were both very excited and after a very smooth and hassle free 1 hour transfer we arrived at Marharba Beach hotel . We were amazed at the look of the hotel it was spotless and very well looked after and situated behind private gates.
We checked in within 5 minutes of arriving which was very easy and friendly and we were shown to our room, our bags were carried up for us and delivered to our door by the friendly and very helpful staff at reception-we did give a little tip(but don't feel you have to).
Within half and hour we were in the room , unpacked and laying by the pool, we were greeted by the friendly animation team pretty much straight away and from this moment on we kew we were going to have a fantastic time.
our transfer was approx. 1 hour and was very straight forward and we were given good and helpful information from the Thomas Cook Rep about the local area.
Well what can i say-STUNNING!!!
well worth a visit, it was clean, tidy, well presented and very friendly environment, air conditioned throughout, and good facilities for everyone including internet, wifi, bar, smoking areas, salon bar, shops, bank and a 24hr reception.
All seemed friendly enough and always willing to help to make your stay as relaxed as possible making sure you do as little as possible for yourself. The waiters bought you your drinks( round the pool, in the terrace and in the restaurant). the maids were always nice and friendly and did a great job at keeping the room clean(they also fold the towels into pretty shape).
The food was amazing, no "junk food" all healthy and fresh, lots of salads, rice and fish but still lots of variety and choice. Breakfast and some dinners were cooked fresh in front of you also. The puddings were to die for and the handmade cakes were picture perfect there was a constant supply of drinks to help yourselves to and on fridays you get dinner by candle light and fresh flowers on your table on your last day.
The pool was big enough and accommodated everyones needs there was a shallow end for the young ones and water sports and a deep end for those who like to jump in and make a splash . there was also a kiddies pool which was shallow, clean and safe.
Our room was gorgeous, very big spacious and clean, they are all air conditioned and come complete with a TV with english channels . we were lucky enough to get a great view from our room over looking the pool and beach areas.
beautiful to look at but we didn't really spend much time on it, we had a walk along the sea edge and all seemed lovely, clean and well kept you could also take part in water activities and paragliding. the hotel also have their own section of the beach and it is complete with toilet, showers and a bar and restaurant. Just be aware there are lots of jellyfish in the sea and there is a possibility you could get stung.( rub wet sand on it is the tip they give you)
ENTERTAINMENT:The entertainment varied we had quiz night, cabarets, karaoke,Tunisian folklore, magic show and a disco ( due to the weather). The entertainment put on by the animation team was by far the best they put in so much effort and it really pays off they were hilarious, you can also choose to pay 20 Dinar (£8) to see the drag show on a saturday night, we did and it was brilliant it was 3 normal lads dressed in fabulous outfits singing tina turner, shirley bassy and cher hits.
There was lots of activities available for you to get involved in but if you didn't want to yo weren't forced to, the animation team offer water polo, archery, darts , french bowls, volley ball and water aerobic in the sea. Be warned if you do take part in any and you loose you will either get chucked in the pool or made to do a forfeit which is a choice of a striptease, belly dance or to sing a song!!!!
these 7 guys made our holiday they work so hard from 10 am to around 11pm, they really do make you feel so welcome and its hard to leave them at the end of your stay. You have kaled- he's the head of the team , you then have Zico, Leo, Timo, Tiga, Alex and Laska.
Zico- hes the funny one who spends most of the time greeting you with his famous "heeellllooo"
Leo- hes the happy go lucky one who loves everyone, he's also the dancer of the group and is always full of energy.
Timo-hes the friendly one who's just genuinely lovely and has a lot of time to sit and chat to you individually to get to know you.
Tiga- hes the little dynamite of the group and is always full of energy and loves a good old game of water polo....."water polo hello wakey wakey"
Alex-hes the quiet one of the group he's friendly enough but i would have liked to get to know him a little better. and finally you have....Laska....(i must say he was my favourite)- he's the cheeky one who loves the ladies and is a big kid at heart!
We really do miss you guys so much!!!
These guys really do make the holiday and you will be sure to come away with some friends.
The only negative thing i can say about our holiday is that we took a trip into town to go to the market and got hassled a lot my only advice would be to make sure you turn your wristbands over and don't let anyone tell you they work at your hotel, you have to stand your ground and be firm with them and just say NO!!!!!
Overall i really couldn't fault this holiday and hotel and have already considered re booking to go back and see everyone.

Considering the 4 star rating from so many reviews I was expecting more than we got.

Super staff, very clean, lovely beach, crystal waters, jellyfish thought so too!! These are the good points. However.....

Really dated hotel, many bathrooms no better than 2 star. Too much tipping expected, no one minds parting with a few quid but if you didn't pay then you sure knew about it from faces and attitudes. No chance of sun loungers without paying the lifeguards, we knew this from a previous Tunisian holiday but displaying a sign saying No Reservation was a joke!! Lifeguards spent so much time dealing with sun loungers, collecting money and chatting or sleeping that for god's sake don't drown!! I really don't believe any of them had any life guard skills or qualifications. All inclusive was limited to the essentials if you have experience from other European destinations, but that is why Tunisian holidays are a few hundred quid cheaper per person. Tea and coffee machine (!!!!) was disconnected about 11.30pm leaving no other options, bars shut up by midnight and no evening snacks available from anywhere, so if you like to stay up late this is not the place for you.
Animation team were nice guys but that really was about it, shows were awful, except the quiz night and although many activities seemed to be offered I think they had a very small take up.
Wasn't a terrible holiday but still paid too much for what we got. Won't return now to Tunisia, will pay the extra and go back to a real All Inclusive holiday.

I have given 5 stars for service but that is for the staff you didn't have to tip and for our fantastic waiter.
