Marhaba Beach Hotel
Ranked #3 of 35 Hotels in Sousse
Reviewed April 15, 2013

We've just returned from two weeks at the Marhaba Beach Hotel. All the staff are fantastic, polite and helpful, from the reception staff on arrival to the cleaners and restaurant waiters. A couple of names to mention, the animation staff, Khaled, Timo, Leo, and Joe worked really hard and were great fun, restaurant waiters, Sammi, and Samir were really attentive and kind, Fethi and Fausi the beach attendents nothing was too much trouble. Also the bar waiters worked so hard and were always checking if a glass needed refilling ( which it invariably did ! )

The food was very good, hotel very clean and the beach gorgeous.

We would recommend the free trip organised by the Hotel to a carpet factory and the Medina, organised by Mohammed. We did feel not so hassled accompanied by a Tunisian guide who took us through the back market streets to find some good deals with a bit of hardcore haggling !

Our only gripe with the Hotel was that smoking was allowed.

Well we're do I start we have just come back from out Holliday here at Marhaba beach and it was amazing! The best Holliday I have ever been on! I have no complaints about this hotel! When we arrived we were welcomed with a glass of fresh orange juice and made to feel very welcome!
Throughout the day the weather was gorgeous and the animation team were the best! They worked really hard day and night to make sure everyone was happy! They up on a very good show and disco on a night and though the day they put activities on for both children and adults!
I especially enjoyed French bowls with Joe, I found that Joe was a very friendly and helpful person, and timmo always had a smile on his face and you could have a laugh with him, while Leo was a great dancer an got everyone dancing with him, and kaled was really friend and helpful and was good with his languages and always made the night a good one with the music! And as for out waiter Ardev he was amazing he would have out table always set with our drinks waiting he was so helpful and was always happy to help!
I've been home a day and wish I could go back already we all had a great time and hope to go back soon and see everyone again!

We returned from Marhaba Beach Hotel on 08/04/13.
The Hotel & Staff overall were lovely, but ladies beware.....
There are certain members of the Hotel Management team & their counterparts....Low Cost Holiday Reps who rent houses as a ploy to extract sexual favours from you.....when you just think you are going for a night out & to see the sights.
Not being one to let a bad experience ruin my whole holiday. the Staff in general are amazingly friendly.
The Hotel, food & AI deal is excellent, great value for money.
Tipping on arrival & on a regular basis will ensure service that is second to none, they work really hard for a meagre wage in a struggling economy & are always smiling & happy.

Well, finally made it to Tunisia, our last booked holiday was cancelled back in 2010 because of the "Arab spring", we were determined to get there this time, and on this occasion we thought we were going to be beaten back by the snow. Travelled to Manchester airport on the M62 from East Yorkshire, no probs.,no snow, no delays no cancellations, all the airports in Yorkshire were closed due to heavy snowfall, how lucky was that. Stayed 24/03/13 for a week. Greeted with a welcome cold drink on arrival, check in swift, allocated a room on the first floor with a sea/pool view, wonderful. Spacious room, clean and smelt fresh on arrival, apparently it had recently been refurbished. Have to agree with the positive comments mentioned in earlier reviews so won't go over old ground. One or two things though that may or may not be have been covered in the reviews. If the weather's poor/overcast (which it tended to mid afternoon) or you've had enough to drink, there's a 24hr movie channel (mbc2) in english (subtitled in Tunisian/Arabic) which showed some cracking new/old Hollywood blockbusters, brill, we're both in our late 50's so don't do 2 much sun worshipping ... lol!!, so it was just nice to just relax (with a drink of course) in your room before the evening. Our rep. (Jumbo Tours) booked via Travel Republic informed us that guests were entitled to a free Hammam (Turkish bath/sauna) during their stay, though we never got round to it, as well as a visit to the A la Carte restaurant,(French/Tunisian cuisine) we didn't take advantage of that either, as we found the food in the main restaurant satisfied our needs. Food in the main restaurant was good although I was a little dubious about the baked fish. Coming from a fishing village I am fond of quality fish, not sure what was being served but it had a strange rubbery texture, not flaky , however on a evening the hotel redeemed itself by serving fresh grilled tuna, mullet, tunisian style , spicy and full of flavour, massive fresh prawns and sardines, oh and the homemade soups were very good too.
Overall we were very impressed with the hotel, friendly staff and a fantastic location. It's not often that we go back to the same hotel but on this occasion we just might make an exception.
Enjoy, you won't be disapointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool as you get the sun all day

If you want to spend a horrible holiday ,please go to Marhaba beach hotel,i would rate two to three star hotel ,we arrived to the hotel after long journey from Manchester ,we where disparate to have the room 's key to have rest ,however we were kept with other family for more than one hour waiting ,surprisingly when we tried to get clarification from the reception we found receptionists with poor English ,and I'm wondering how for a four star hotel dealing mostly with british travellers to not have a good English speaker !!,finally we got the room after 90min waiting but not the one we booked with the seaside view, but at this stage as we were so tired to argue ,the room was of good space ,the towels were torn,Tv Channels were 9 of 10 of different languages mostly with news programmes, food is being served frequently at the hotel ,but the Tunisian food quality is poor ,open Buffett shows different kind of dishes but tunisian food is of poor quality ,the only credit for this poor hotel is the animation team who organise night events regularly which dose every thing to please people

in this hotel from 24.3. to 07.04. Before we went we were worried about the weather but during the 2 weeks it only rained twice. It was nice and hot most of the days, sometimes cloudy in the afternoon. Cant say anything bad about this hotel, its clean, food is ok, everyone is very friendly. We spent most of our nights in the Saloon Bar and enjoyed the entertainment. Annimation team (Kalem, Timo, Leo, Joe) are doing amazing job. They are great with kids. We don`t have any but we had fun with them, they come and talked to you and got you involved if you up for it. We played archery, it can get quite competitive (Timo is number 2) ha ha. We wouldn`t probably enjoy our holiday as much as we did without them.
What we have noticed during our stay was that everyone, same as us, was tipping the men on sunbeds, and waiters in bars and restourants, and room cleaners but noone gives tips to the Animation team which is shame because they really work hard. When we spoke about it to the other geusts, we agreed that it just never crossed our mind. We left them bigger tip at the end of our stay. Please remember the Animation team.
We also went on 2 day trip Saharea explorer through the rep in the hotel. We would really recommend it, they pack a lot in, seems like we have seen the most of Tunisia in 2 days. Because we were there for 2 weeks, we booked the trip in the middle and it really broke up the holiday nicely.
We have never gone back to any hotel before, but we really feel like we want to go back to this one. Really good value for money.

'we love to serve' is the hotel motto and very apt too, nothing was ever to much trouble, spotlessly clean ,plenty of staff eager to please and be of help at any time of the day or night. if ratings we based on the quality of staff it would definitely be 5 star. The hotel is situated within walking distance of Sousse, which of course we did to visit the Medina ,not something I would recommend hassled on the way in and back, however for a 6 td fare in the opposite direction is the most amazing resort of Port El Kantaoui hassle free mainly pedestrianized, the people here are amazing .
The hotel offer free trips with an escort to most places of interest and this is the way to visit no hassle experienced you do however get to go in lots of my brothers shops but you are safe. The staff here speak at least two languages one is always English
the hotel opens out onto a private beach with life guards who ensure your time on the beach is private no intrusion form traders etc..
On the upside we ate 5 star themed evenings inclusive of a candle lit dinner with music and Tunisian cuisine
The only down side to this holiday and stay would have to be the bar in the lobby is open to the public and is often taken over by very loud and greedy people whom have no respect for the hotel or its staff .
We will return to Tunisia and this hotel later this year.

Room Tip: Be aware this is a very poor country and you MUST be aware of personal safety, don't put yoursel...
