Only been here 3 days, but meet the most amazing animation team... Main one named Ben made us feel welcome from the minute we walked in the hotel, got us all in joining in on activities. Most importantly got our children up mixing with other children, really helpful Just read bad reviews on here about Ben must say what a load of utter rubbish !!!!

Had a lovely holiday until my daughters metioned something to me. 4 of us.. myself, my husnad and two girls aged 19 and 21 went for a week at the Marhaba Royal Salem.. we lvoed it there... food good.. drinks good..beach again really nice..and thought the animation team very nice and friendly and made alot of effort to keep us entertained and involved UNTIL both my daughters mentioned to me that one of the animation team member (BEN) would insist they go to the night club at midnight.. both girls did go but on separate nights with their friends they made while on holiday and reported that Ben was very flirty with them and invited them back to his room for sexual activity.. both my girls are sensible and rejected it..but it shows that this must be happening with every guest.. so if anyone has experienced similar things, please write about it. My daughters mentioned it after we got back and I will be making a formal complaint with the hotel too. Other than this expeirince we had a wonderful holiday.

Stayed here for a week in June with 2 friends. The entrance hall and lobby area is lovely.Bedrooms were a good size with a large balcony, plenty of room for 3 adults. The rooms and public areas are kept very clean, and the staff were very helpful. You do have to pay if you want a fridge in your room, and also for a safety deposit box.
Food was very good with plenty of choice at every meal. The beach restaurant was a fab bonus as you didn't have to leave the beach for lunch, and it was nice to sit with a sea view to eat. Only minor criticism regarding meals was that the evening meal had 2 sittings, and once you were allocated your sitting you had to stick to it all week.
Grounds are lovely, with lots of nice shaded areas. There are 2 pools and you can also use the pools at the Salem.Beach. Towels are available with a returnable deposit and can be changed every day, which we wasn't aware of before travelling.
The beach was kept very clean, and we never failed to get a sunbed with a mattress, however if you want to be near an umbrella get there early. Waiters are up and down the beach between 10am -5pm to fetch you drinks, so you don't have to leave your sunbed for refreshments, bliss.
We booked to go on the Sahara Safari trip with Thomas Cook which was very good value for money, and I would highly recommend it.
Loved our week at this hotel and thought it was very good value for money and would definitely return.

We stayed here April 2011.

Just to be clear, we paid a grand total of £600 for this holiday, all inclusive, for 2 of us, for 2 weeks. For that price, we'd have spent the fortnight in a shed, so this place certainly exceeded our expectations.

A lot of this complex was closed off for building work and refurbishment when we visited. Looked like they were doing a good job too. This didn't bother us as we paid so little for the holiday.

Room was better than expected and had a sea view, grounds were nice, food was good (typical all inclusive), drinks were plentiful, weather was good. Pool was cold at that time of year, which was refreshing to say the least! We were happy to keep ourselves entertained in the evening in the lobby bar.

I did get sick one night after eating some questionable cake (it had been made into a huge house, how could i resist that! Little did I know that it was actually all the buffet cake from previous days that had been shmushed together to make this lovely looking house, and then reshmushed again the next night to make a crocodile. More fool me for not realising this sooner.). We took part in some of the activities, namely archery and boules. All in all we were very happy with what we got for the price we paid.

We took a trip on a camel which was a bit of a nightmare, but this wasn't the hotel's fault. Also walked into the Medina one day (it's a flipping long walk) and got caught in a sandstorm - the sandstorm was the best part of the trip, we didn't rate the Medina.

Would we return? No, but then we don't tend to travel to the same place twice. There is certainly no denying though that for what we paid we were pleasantly surprised.

We went at the half-term school break at the end of May 13,taking our daughters and grandchildren with us...the weather was wonderful...not too hot ...just right.
The entrance hall is lovely..Moorish in design...Bedrooms good size as was our balcony but not all of them are.The building is built on a curve and the balconies get smaller as you get to each end of it...one of our daughters had literally a Juliet one.My husband and I had room 223 .
Food got rather boring, however,if you like spicy food, there was plenty of Tunisian dishes. We had to pay to have a fridge in the room...was not happy about that!!
Grounds are lovely with two pools but one can also use the Salem one ,which is all in the complex.and the beach very clean with a bar restaurant there...no complaints on this..Beach towels available with a returnable deposit and can be changed every day .
The internet was hopeless and the receptionist barely speak English which was a pain!!
We will not be going back to that hotel again...going in September... back to the Sentido Phenicia Hotel in Hammamet (see my review on this).
Went in January !3...wonderful,if I had known about the hotel prior to booking the Royal Salem
would have gone there instead.
However,I might be biased with having stayed at the fantastic Phenicia.

Room Tip: We had room 223 which had a good balcony,so I imagine if one gets say:room 123 323,423 etc. or one...
