Ive just arrived back from Tunisia, Hotel Marhaba. The hotel itself is clean and refnished well. We did not have a fridge which was really unfortunate as we could not chill any water for during the night. As far as food goes this was a huge let down, everything is just so repetitive theres nothing that really that catches your eye, we found ourselves going out to eat several nights (Farmers at the top of the road, turning left as you come out of the hotel, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!) Another down side is the aggravation you get when you go out of the hotel with the locals, particually with just females it puts you off leaving the hotel grounds. The pool area's were all clean although the main pool was very difficult to be able to get sun beds we had to be on the grass the last couple of days of our holiday. Most staff were pleasant although we often got very rude staff who then spoke to their colleagues in their language and you can clearly see that it is about you, not comfortable. It was a shame that the refurb was still going on as was abit of an eye sore from our balcony. For the younger generation like us there is nothiing to do in the evening, there is evening entertainment but its more for the kiddies, there is a night club on resort but it really is not great at all. Overall i would reccommend this hotel IF you are not of the younger generation and are purley looking to relax and not really go out and you are not a fussy eater. Beach was the highest point of this hotel but you constantly have tunisians up and down the beach trying to sell you stuff which can get very annoying.

Room Tip: The main reception rooms from what i gather are the newley refurbed.

having being told of good things about the area and the hotels we had high expectations which weren't met when we arrived. The staff throughout the hotel were very kind and helpful and would stop anything to make you feel welcome although the cleanliness was not up to scratch at all and neither was the food after finding the food covered in flies after being left uncovered in the sun. Although towards the end of the holiday i was unhappy to be leaving but the only way i would return is if everything mentioned in the brochure was true such as the complex of 5 hotels, of which only 2 you could use with your all inclusive band, the insane amount of ants and cockroaches roaming around and also the building work still being conducted throughout the hotel, all in all we were not impressed with the stay here due to the lack of entertainment for teenagers, the days were fine but the nights tended to get a little boring.

We stayed here for 1 week, commencing the 22nd July. We do not usually go on holiday during peak season but had little choice this year, and so to fit our budget during this peak time we were restricted with where we could go/stay. In order to give a thorough review I will provide a list of the good and bad points as there is quite a bit to say about this hotel!

Bad Points
- The hotel is not finished, one of the cafes was still being rebuilt and only half the rooms have been refurbished, unfortunately we got one of the old rooms!
- The room we were allocated was very basic (no fridge or hairdryer), decor was very old, bathroom rather grotty, and curtains had a few holes in them! What is more, on arrival the porter struggled to open the room and remove the key from the door, when we returned to our room after having a look around the grounds we could not open the door at all. We then had to wait for 30mins whilst someone fiddled around with lock to let us in, then another 30 mins whilst they changed the handle, not great when our daughter was trying to have a nap.
-The maid service wasn't the greatest, sheets were quite often not changed but just straightened up! Apparently they are supposed to leave 2 bottles of water in the room each day too but we only got 1 bottle on the odd occassion!
- Food was repetitive and there was not a great deal of choice.
- The queue for drinks at the bar was constantly full as there was only ever 1 or 2 bar staff on at a time. Also they did not have any kind of juice for children, just fizzy pop so my daughter drank water all week. I myself only drink liquers, e.g. malibu, peach schnapps etc and there was nothing like this.

Good Points
- The Animation Team are FANTASTIC! They really make the hotel and it is them alone which would make me return to this hotel!
- The pools and beach are beautiful
- Staff are really friendly and helpful - especially if you tip. We tipped the pool guy on the first day £4 and he reserved sunbeds where we wanted them for the whole week. Likewise the waiter in the main restaurant brought us drinks etc as we gave him a small tip each day.
-Tunisia is so cheap and therefore you get so much more for your money. For example watersports and trips are half the price they would be anywhere else! We went on a galleon pirate ship trip which included food, soft drinks and entertainment and cost £14. We also did the 2 day Sahara explorer which was great and well worth the money.

All in all this hotel is fine for a cheap holiday abroad. As I have said the rooms aren't great and food is lacking in choice but we never went hungry and we had a great time regardless of the room. The animation team save this hotel and if the price was right I would return!

Room Tip: We had room 245, this was one of the old rooms and as described not very nice. However the location...

FIRSTLY PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY BAD REVIEWS ABOUT THIS HOTEL, IT IS BRILLIANT

I have just returned on Sunday night from Tunisia, Hotel Marhaba in Sousse. The hotel is fantastic, spotless clean and I dont have a single bad thing to say about it. The food is great always something to eat for everyone, the pools are really nice as is the beach. There are things going on all day around the pools, and music which I loved all day. The Animation Team Fifi, Mano, GiGi, Nino, MoMo, Sou Sou, BoBo and all the others were amazing, so friendy and happy and making sure you are ok all the time. The actual hotel staff are also brilliant, nothing was to much trouble for them, I asked for our 2 rooms to be changed the day we arrived to pool or sea views rooms and this was done for us immedicately with no problems at all. I cant believe people would go here and have bad things to say. The hotel is massive and not at all dirty. There are previous reviews on here stating that food is bad and hotel is dirty, please do not listen. I dont know what hotel these people were staying at but its not the Marhaba Hotel that I have just returned from. Im not being funny but you are in a boiling hot country in which you will obviously get insects once in a while, people need to remember that. I didnt see one ant or cockroach or anything in the room I was in. Please e-mail me if you wish to know anything about the Marhaba! To sum up i will definately be returning to the hotel very soon, thanks for a brilliant holiday.

we were booked to go to marhaba hotel for our 40th wedding anniversary but 4 days before we were due to travel on the 24th june we got a phone call to say we were being transfered to marhaba club so fine you say well it was far from fine when we got to the hotel yes we we were booked into the club but the room we were given belonged to marhaba hotel we had the first days meals in club but when we went to the reps meeting was told marhaba hotel was open and that we could use that resurant if we wanted which we did there is still a lot of work to be done at the hotel but what as been done is lovely and will be fab when finished but that wasn't the point of this review normally if you tell the rep that you have a special occasion to celebrate you get a cake made for you well not this time the rep was not interested to say the least all he kept going on about was how great the club was not the way to gain confidence from regular visitors to marhaba hotel, the room was ok but had not been refurbed for the first 3 days we could not use the shower as there was no rail to fit it to the wall so we complained to the rep who said I'll get your room changed which we said no to as the room was on the ground floor right by marhaba hotel pool so after 3 days it was fixed sort of they put a fitting on the wall which was in a fixed positon which was ok for my husband but a pain for me he's 6 foot plus I'm not but all part of the fun of holidays then we got a ant invasion which was a pain but we just put up with it. the only thing that made our anniversary special was the pool man made us a floral arrangement which was lovely the hotel staff were all great as were the animation team the hotel is open and everything is running well we are giving TC one last chance to redeem themselves as we have another holiday booked in November to Marahba Hotel lets see if we get placed in it this time they say 3rd time lucky well this will be our 3rd visit this year but seriously the refurbishment did not interfer with our holiday at all so if you are lucky enough to be going to Hotel Marhaba enjoy

Room Tip: the rooms overlooking the pool are ok

Room 357 very basic, the bathroom was of a poor standard, even after a repiar to the shower it did not stay in place & leaked from the hose, maid was excellent as usual.
The toilets in the reception area were dirty and it took three complaints to the hotel manager to get them to adjust the lights to stay on for long enough, which was probably why they were so dirty you could not see unless you do a dance at the same time as using them, bar service was quite slow, not enough seating inside.
Pool & area & staff excellent, but again with large queue's for drinks, not enough seating for lunch, recommend use the beach bar for lunch.
Food was standard for tunisia, always something to eat, lots of choice.
Overall hotel ok, some of the eastern european/russian guests very rude, which is mainly what spoiled it for us,( we have been going to Tunisia since 2006).

Room Tip: there are no lifts in the old part of the hotel, only 75 steps to 3rd floor (Rm 357)

after having to change rooms the first night of our holiday due to an ant infestation we should have known how bad the rest of our holiday would be! my boyfriend and I are both fussy eaters which we told the thomas cook employee who sold us this holiday and assured us that this hotel would cater for us serving a wide selection of english food alongside tunisian cuisine. this was a blatant lie. the hotel serves up the usual salad and bread selection but from there only the chips were recognisable to us and were on the greasy side. we were told that the hotel was a lovely clean and modern hotel only to find when we get here that is it under part construction. the waiters who are supposidly very friendly were consistanly rude to us talking in aribic to their coworkers instead of answering us. the doctor who we saw did not understand english and could not make it clear what we were to do. after a week of not being able to eat and having sickness we decided to cut our holiday short. the rep in the hotel was helpful arranging us a transfer to the airport and giving us a customer relations form to fill out so we can take our issue up with thomas cook when we are home. over all i would never reccomend this hotel or the resort and thomas cook in general.
