“Fantastic week in the sun”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

Got back Wed 11th June 2014 following a week of what we would say is one of, or the best holidays that we have had.

Arrival

Greeted by singing and dancing staff, procedure of checking in was very straight forward and very fast.

Provided with arrival drink and slice of cake which went down very well!

Rooms

These were kept incredibly clean by the maids. Our room was cleaned by lunchtime each day and fresh towels provided daily if required.

The room was decorated nicely with a flat screen TV with many English channels

Only slight issue was that we were surprised that the soft drinks in the mini-bar were not replaced during the week.

Weather

Weather was very hot (30 - 35 degrees) every day, occasionally there was a slight breeze in the afternoons but this was nice after a day sunbathing in the heat!

Food

Food was fantastic for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner each day. There is a different theme for each nights dinner and they were equally as good as each other. Lots of variety and the food was kept hot at all times.

Best food experienced at an All Inclusive hotel so far!

You are also allowed one visit to the Indian A La Carte restaurant , and this was also very nice food and service.

Swimming Pool

The outside pool, although pretty cold water was kept very clean at all times.

We were at the pool at 8 most mornings and there were plenty of sun loungers free. Even if one were to arrive at mid morning, the pool staff would find you somewhere to lay for the day. You are also provided with pillows and cushions for the loungers, without having to ask.

Several water dispensers are located around the pool for convenience. (which is a great idea)

Drink selection at the pool bar during the day was fairly limited to soft drinks, beer and wine (no cocktails!)

Staff

All staff in the hotel are polite, very helpful and always in good spirits. They are the best group of staff at a hotel we have come across.

They all spoke great English, which is handy because 99% of the guests are English!

Particular mention to Hedi the guest services manager, who was a great laugh and very helpful to all guests.

Entertainment

The entertainment was pretty much non-existent. It wasn't until our last two nights that we got to see a show. The entertainment is located across a swimming pool which was very dull lit and hard to see. Also, struggle to find a seat or see in front of others. We ended up playing cards and snooker most nights.

Bars

We found that the lobby bar drinks were of poor quality and kept getting our drinks wrong. Needless to say the Pinacolada was more like dish water. We got most of our drinks from the bar downstairs which was great atmosphere and great drinks.

Gym

Visited the gym every day. Fairly limited with only a few machines and equipment available. Also, no air conditioning but situated in great location on the beach and still good.

Snack Bar

Ate at the snack bar once after a late check in to the hotel, but only ate there once. Table service also! Good for ice cream and afternoon tea/cake.

Only a few tweaks to be made but we had a fantastic stay and can already say we have recommended this hotel to 2 couples who will be going later this year/next year and will 100% be returning which we have never said before.

We arrived in the evening after a 8 hour delay so was very tired amazing reception from the staff and very cheerful. My partner locked us out on the balcony the first night of getting there so hence after screaming for help a manger came to let us in lol so don't shut the balcony door when out there.

Entertainment: was ok the secrets, our opinion should be kept a secret not to our taste and they appear everywhere they are ment to take request but don't count on it.

Food: brilliant plenty of options for breakfast and lunch and dinner we ate for lunch by the pool which do wraps burgers chicken nuggets and chips and spag boll.

Trips out: would go through najib Thomson are in it for the money. He is a hard worker and so friendly and does not apply pressure. We done quads and the pirate ship and he also does scuba on request which my partner and I went out for the day fantastic.

Staff: were amazing and so helpful could not do enough to please you headi is our English version of gok so funny and had a lovely out look on life what you see is what you get. The managers were also lovely and humerous and went to all lengths to make us happy even on our romantic evening on the beach with a 6 course meal. They even done fly away lanterns for us how sweet.

Our one down fall was a couple who everyday at 530 am got same sunbed every morning not giving other people to enjoy that space your not allowed to reserve sunbeds but can leave your towel after 8 am. However our last day out of principle I sat in that spot at 510am and felt like a queen lol for 5 hours till it was time to go and gave it to another couple to enjoy.

We would both like to say thank you to some great people who we met out there and to the hotel staff and management.
May I also apologise for my partner throwing the entertainment in the pool lol although the entertainers found it funny on the 3rd time my partner went in the pool lol.
Would highly recommend this hotel for couples amazing.

My husband & I returned from this hotel last week after spending 14 nights there. My title says it all, it was just great, and we had a really brilliant time.
Rooms
I emailed the hotel before arriving to request a top floor room, however, we were allocated a ground floor room on arrival as my request had not been received. Within 5 minutes of discussing this our room was changed and we were allocated a top floor room overlooking the pool and sea, which was lovely.
The rooms are an adequate size for sleeping in and getting ready for dinner etc. The bathrooms are not tiled and apparently this is deliberate, not unfinished as we had thought. Kirk the rep explained that the tiles were removed and the walls finished with a wet proof finish, which does just look like plastered walls, but not a problem for us!! The rooms are very light and so by 6.00am our room was in daylight!! The safe is payable, but not much.

Beach and pools
There are two pools, a main one right near the beach and a small one in the courtyard. Sun beds were plentiful on the beach and by the pools, but if you wanted a particular sort or a particular spot then an early start was needed, however, reserving sun loungers before 8.00am and then going off resulted in the security staff removing them, as stated in the rules, and we agreed with this!!!
The beach was very windy, great in intense heat, but our first week wasn't intense heat so too chilly for me to sit there. At times there was seaweed, but not too bad. The sea was quite cold, as was the main pool. You can walk along the beach in either direction to reach Sousse to the right and Port El Kantaoui to the left.

Food
The food was just amazing, lots of different choice and piping hot! In the buffet restaurant it was a different theme every night on a 7 night rota. The speciality restaurant was an Indian and worth visiting. The food was tasty there, and it was nice to be served for a change!! If you can't find something to eat during your stay then I would suggest staying in England, as the choice was vast!!

Entertainment
The entertainment was as we expected really, quite low key in the evenings, and during the day some activities organised by the wonderful Achraf. The resident duo played most nights, and were quite good. The Sand Man on a Saturday night is very clever and worth watching!!

Excursions
We booked the quad bikes through the guy in the courtyard as the bikes are larger than the ones Thomson book, also, through Thomson you have to arrange your own transport. The transport is provided for you through the hotel guy. It was definitely worth doing and very well organised.
We didn't book any other excursions, but did book the VIP lounge at the airport through the Thomson Reps for the return journey which was worth every penny, about £31 each person.
We visited both Sousse and Port El Kantaoui during the day, and in the evening for a meal. We would recommend visiting both places, but not by the little train, as we were almost tipped out on our way back from Sousse! It did give us something to laugh about though, once we were back at the hotel with a few alcoholic drinks inside us! Taxis work out at about £3 each way, or you can take a 40 minute walk to each place.

Staff
The staff at this hotel absolutely make this place, making each guest feel welcome and special. We didn't meet one staff member who wasn't extremely helpful, happy, and eager to please. The hotel obviously prides itself on good customer satisfaction. The managers Ozan and Hedi speak to guests everyday to ensure everything is okay, and genuinely seem to care about the feedback from guests, and making any necessary changes! We have travelled extensively and would say that the staff are amongst the best we have ever encountered! A special mention to the lovely, lovely Achref, Noureddine, the happiest cleaner, we have ever met, Gussama, the pool man who helps everyone, and Raed, our very favourite waiter/ bar man! Also, thank you to Kirk and Tammie, the Thomson reps, who were very helpful to us, informative and friendly.

In summary, this hotel is worth every penny, if you have booked it, well done, if you haven't, don't hesitate you will love it.
Thank you once again to the staff for making our holiday so enjoyable and to Andrea and Nigel for your company. We definitely had many laughs!!!

Room Tip: Top floor, overlooking the pool and beach

Not sure if it deserves a 1 or a 5, so I've settled on a 3.
Why a one?
We arrived an hour late after 1am and got our "greeting" which wasnt quite as others have described it.
There was some paperwork to fill in, not sure why they dont already have the information on it, and a premade drink, which was ok. A snack and a coke or a beer would have been better, but never mind.
And then we were off to our room, which I can only assume was the wrong room, since it hadnt been cleaned properly. There wasnt a cover on the quilt, and there was a half eaten celebration cake on the desk. The porter seemed confused and wasnt really sure what to make of it, phoned reception, asked if we wanted the cake, we didnt, so he took it with him.
As a check in process, it was more what I'd expect at a hostel.

The room itself was small, and there was just so much furniture, that just got in the way.
The bathroom was a bit awkward as well, the shower wasnt tiled either which seemed odd

The Food was fantastic, plenty of variety and, just good food.

Day time entertainment was a bit hit and miss, partly I dont think many people wanted to take part, but also, it wasnt really clear where anything was.

Evening food was themed every night, I'm a pretty fussy eater but managed to get by even on seafood night.
We picked a waiter, tipped hi 10d the first night and a couple thereafter, had great service.

Evening entertainment was very good, the secret are good enough, not gong to be taking the charts by storm or anything, but wont drive you from the bar, the pyromancers, Vegas Dancers (apparently), sand artist, belly dancer and spinning guy were all fantastic.

Euro coins are worthless over there, took a waiter a week to pluck up the courage to tell me that
The animal park isnt going to give Longleat sleepless nights, but you can bribe a zoo keeper to hold a lion, so the day out is worth it for that I think

Our toilet broke and the maintenance guy was there to fix it in minutes

I can certainly understand the 5* ratings, but such a poor start means I cant give it one

Overall this was a great holiday. The staff are fantastic and really make this place. There are many positive reviews on here about individual members of staff and i agree with them all.

The reason i haven't given 5 stars is more down to the room and the hotel. The room was a little tired looking and the bed is rock hard. You get used to it but if you don't like a hard spring mattress you will struggle to sleep.
We had a private pool room and wether you need one or not depends on what you like to do on your holiday. We sunbath in the morning by private pool, chill out/ sleep from 1-3 and then head to the beach for the late sun. The pool rooms are great for this and as you are sharing a large pool between 3 rooms you can actually swim in it rather than it being just a plunge pool.
If your happy getting up early to get a lounger and stay out for the duration of the day then you could skip the private pool room. its all down to personal preference.
Sunloungers do get reserved early and there were a couple of days where it was quite busy and loungers were being set up on the grass.

Food is very good for an A.I. There is a different theme each night and a large variety of food. There are also 3 stations which are cooking different things fresh in front of you so if you do want your food pipping hot you can wait for a fresh batch.

Beach is sandy and is pretty well kept. There can be a lot of seaweed washed up but they guys seem to try and clear it as best they can. Kayaking is free and i recommend going out early in the morning on a calm day. Its really peaceful before the speedboats all start.

Entertainment is good through the day and evening but your not pestered to participate or go if you don't fancy.

Couples all seem to be primarily from the uk and of varying ages. Pink £ also welcome.

Room Tip: If you prefer it a little quieter then go for a pool room. If your not fussed then go with the uppe...

Relaxing Break
We’ve recently returned from a relaxing weeks break at this hotel. Having read the reviews I did wonder if it would live up to it. On the whole I would say yes.
On arrival there was the singing and dancing from the staff as previously mentioned. A bit too cheesy for my liking. Check-in was very efficient and we were quickly in our room.
The maid had decorated the room with flowers and petals which was nice. Stepping out onto the balcony we were greeted by a fantastic sea view. The only negative with this was that sunrise was about 5 am and the sun came streaming into the room making it difficult to sleep after that. Investing in some blackout curtains would be worthwhile. Also the small bathroom wasn’t finished and the walls were bare plaster, no tiles. However the maid did keep the room spotless.
We couldn’t fault the food and always found plenty to choose from, probably too much after getting on the scales back at home. My favourite theme night was Tunisian night, but they were all well presented. Also there was rice pudding at breakfast which I loved and took me back to my childhood.
Beer and wine were good but the spirits were an acquired taste. The wine glasses at lunchtime were always topped up as if by magic!
There were plenty of beds around the pool but we preferred the beach. The sea was a bit rough for the 1st couple of days but then it was calm and clear for the rest of the week. As other reviewers have said there was a few saddos who got up before 6am to reserve “their beds”
We have already priced up to return next Spring bank but it’s nearly 50% more than this year. So I may be shooting myself in the foot by writing another good review!

Room Tip: Not much to differentiate as all face the sea
