“Fish & Sea food, the Alexandrian way by the sea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

I travelled to Alex with my fiance just to eat fish and come back to Cairo the same day, it wasn't an easy choice coz there are many places to go eat fish & sea food specially in Alex. so after some locals recommendations, we decided to go and it was worth the visit, ONE OF THE BEST i've tried in my life, we ordered sea food soup (which contained shrimps, Calamari & crab), brown rice, fish grilled in the singaary way, Alexandrian calamari tajen and grilled jumbo shrimps. The soup is a MUST try, the rest of the food was really tasty specially the shrimps, they have great waiters and i was impressed with the level of service!
overall, was worth the truoble of travelling to eat a good sea food meal :D

“Poor quality food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2011

Heard a lot about this place, but I have to say my experience fill a LOT short of enjoyment.

Service was slow, waiters were not interested, and food gave me a diarrhea

“The food is just brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2010

This restaurant is a very good example for a delightful experience in Alexandrian sea food restaurants. The seating is normal, nothing fancy about it, typical egyptian restaurants. Try fried shrimps "head and tail", shrimps in tomato marinar sauce and ask the chef for its soup, and as an excellent appetizer, take the small clamps boiled with oil, lemon & garlic and cumin.

“More fish!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2010

Rakoda is (another) old-style fish restaurant, but on the "other" side of the Corniche, so lacking a view. Hence, it lacks the ambience and name recognition of the obligatory "Fish Market" and so serves all the same stuff for about 3/4 of the same price. You choose what you want from the iced table, they cook it however you want, you eat it and enjoy...

“Pretty Good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2009

This restaurant is located on the cornishe overlooking the sea, just after the Bibliotecha going East. It's pretty new, and one of the few restaurants I've seen that actually have tablecloths on the table. Like most seafood restaurants in Alex, you choose your fresh fish or shrimp or whatever and tell them how you want it cooked. They bring a ton of salads and appetizers to the table, you can turn away whatever you don't want. The waiters and other staff are super friendly and running back and forth to accommodate the full house. The food was great. I thought it was too expensive, but it seems that seafood in general (especially shrimp) is expensive in Egypt. The second time I went they didn't have as much variety in the fishes and other seafood to choose from. They always have huge groups there (like extended families or lots of friends together) for dinner, but the place is big enough to accommodate them. I wish they had a non-smoking section though.
