Masjid (Mosque in Arabic) of Abu Al Abbas Al Mursi is Alexandria's largest Mosque and one of the most important Islamic monuments.
The eight monolithic granite columns, the colonnade of elongated arches and the beautiful marble floor make you witness the greatness ofthe architecture of the Islamic and Egyptian Civilisation.

The mosque was breath taking so beautiful, the art and workmanship was unbelieveable; you were given a bag to put your shoes in and the men had to wear a hat; ladies had to cover up neck, arms, legs, women and men pray separate. I liked that we were allow to see what a mosque look like and learn a little of their belief. We seen the Tomb of Mohamed Ali.
An over all good time.

As a christian, it is interesting to go inside a mosque and find the spartan amenities with just carpets covering the floor. Our guide Mohamed pointed where the faithful has to face during prayer that is towards Mecca.
