Owner description: Located near the site of the ancient library of Alexandria, this modern version is an eleven-story, cylindrical-shaped building that houses more than eight million books. A re-imagining of Alexandria's ancient Great Library, this gorgeously designed cultural center contains a host of museums as well as one of the modern world's most ambitious libraries. Its architecture - a giant sun disk - presides over the waterfront Corniche, while inside, a huge reading room can hold eight million volumes. Below themain library, visitors can explore a range of beautifully curated exhibitions. TheManuscript Museum with its magnificent collection of ancient texts and scrolls and the Antiquities Museum with its Graeco-Roman antiquities and statuary found during underwater exploration in the harbor are the two prime attractions. But there are also rotating art exhibitions, a permanent Egyptian folk art collection, and a Science Museum and Planetarium that are aimed squarely at children.

An amazing place with a lot to cherish. Art, literature, history, mathematics and virtually everything at one place. Architecture is amazing.

At first, I wasn't keen on going to the library. But the architecture from inside is awe-inspiring. They also have several art galleries (some free/some paid.) We asked for an English speaking guide to give us a tour. FYI, you can't bring any bags inside and will be asked to leave your purses at the front.

It was very wonderful and satisfying visit. I didn't know what to expect but I was shocked by how huge the library was. It has several floors, each filled with paintings, statues and countless shelves of books. They have a huge variety of book you can read or borrow and its the perfect quiet place for students to go and study. It's architecture amazed me so I ended up taking alot of pictures.

It also has several museums in the ground floor (about the history of Egypt) that are worth passing by them.

The library's architecture is amazing and the ticket prices are reasonable. There is a special discounted tickets for students. Once you're inside there is a lot to discover so it's recommended to get a guided tour. Don't miss the special exhibitions while there.
