We stayed here 2 nights with our tour group. This is an old building that is laid out a bit odd. There are businesses on the first two floors, and the hotel on the next two.
The hotel itself is fine - there wasn't really much difference from the rest of the standard class hotels in this country. They are all laid out the same, and this one was no exception.
There was one big difference with this hotel that we didn't experience anywhere else though, and that was an incident with the elevator. Too many of us got in it one evening and it literally dropped 3 stories to the ground below. It was a jarring incident where thankfully no one was seriously hurt, but it definitely scared the group a bit. We stopped using the elevator afterwards. There is no placarded weight limit or anything, so if you end up staying here I suggest you get the exercise and take the stairs..
Other than that, the hotel is fine. The rooms are upscale basic, meaning there was a television and AC inside. The bathroom was a bit smaller than usual, and we had fun comparing shower curtains with our tour mates. Beds were Egyptian typical - hard, one pillow, etc. There was a mini-fridge in the room that was good for keeping things cold - a nice treat with the heat and humidity.
This hotel has a pretty good location. It is essentially on the water, after you cross a very busy road. There is no beach across the street though - just some rocks. You are two blocks away from the central square and a major street with all sorts of food and shops along it. You can walk to the fort or the library in about 30 minutes (opposite directions). There is a liquor store 5 blocks away, and a restaurant that serves beer almost next door (Mermaid).
One big bonus with this hotel is the free wifi in the lobby - just ask for the password. The staff is friendly enough, though they became a bit ignorant after the elevator incident. There was a small breakfast room where we ate in the morning. Breakfast was good and plentiful including bread, cheeses, olives, etc.
All in all, a good place for a couple of days. It has a good location, central enough to many things. The hotel rooms are standard and fine to sleep in. Just avoid the elevator.
