We stayed 3 nights there and enjoyed our stay a lot because the people working there are extremely friendly and provide a great service! We gave them our laundry and got it back on the same day, only after some hours and even before the promised time! When we asked for some more butter for breakfast they gave us a complete new breakfast and still remembered to give us some more butter the next days. :0)
From our room we could see the sea and it was spacious and clean.
The man working at the reception is very sweet and treats you as your grandchildren! :0)
We really enjoyed this friendly place so much, especially after a lot of bad experiences we had with some places and people all over Egypt.
We can highly recommend this sweet place! :0)

great staff, really friendly, a little discerning on the way up but once your there, it was very clean. I stayed for less thatn 15$ per night with breakfast and a great view of the Med. Conveniently located. Shared bath and was clean.

We stayed at the Crillon Hotel both times we passed through Alexandria and would happily stay a third time. I have to admit that this hotel isn't as modern or srubbed-up as a chain hotel, but what it lacks in new furniture it more than makes up for in character. We stayed both in the 'suite' (which has a lovely and clean ensuite with loads of hot water, a sitting room and a private balcony) as well as room that shared a bathroom with one other room (the bathroom was very clean, with gleaming tiles and spotless amenities everytime I used it). The shared areas, especially on the upper floor, were beautiful and very clean. The manager and other hotel staff were very friendly and genuine. I know that the bottom floor of the building would put a lot of people off and that some parts of the hotel are a little sruffy, but I think it's great value as a budget option.

Part of the hotel has been renovated in a cozy way, whereas the 6th floor is simply disgusting and murky (a shame for the highly price charged).
A pity that no guide books mentionned it...

My boyfriend and I were put into the unrenovated part of this hotel as part of an Intrepid tour (for the last 2 nights of our holiday) and we could not stay here at all. Apparently the renovated part of the hotel is lovely but here the carpets were dirty, the ceilings were patched up, there was still lots of dirt and rubbish in the drawers and the bed sheets were a far cry from being white. I am unsure of the facilities and the staff as we did not stay there for a moment longer than I had to. The lift from the lobby could be classified as a death trap as you could open them part way and they will just stay there leaving a big gap between the landing and then lift, we saw this happen a few times by the locals and it was just left.

The lonley plant guide gives it a great write up and if you choose to stay here ensure you go to the renovated part that has the views across the med. I personally would steer clear as there is pleanty of choice of other hotels.

We were recently delayed in Egypt with our two kids and having 'done' Cairo and not wanting to spend too much more money - on the advice of fellow travellers we decided to head off to Alexandria and Hotel Crillon. The night before our departure I checked out the mix of reviews on Trip Advisor and was a little worried! Yes, the ground floor entrance is pretty damp, dismal and dire and the lift looked very dodgey but Hotel Crillon itself is fine. Great location on the seafront and fabulous views from our balconies. The whole place has been refurbished and it's looking smart. We felt safe and the children were happy. The staff were friendly and helpful and they provided a cheap clothes washing service. Breakfast was fine. We were pleased to find a good value place in a good location. It's sandwiched between the Old Windsor Palace and the Cecil Hotel so you can always pop in there for a coffee to see how the other half live - but pay a lot less for the same view!
