“Not the best description for the hotel.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2009

I stayed in a 5* hotel in Cairo before visiting this one and found the standards in comparison really poor, it certainly is not a 5*. We arrived to find people painting the walls in the corridor, there was cranes and building work taking place. The room did not appear to have been cleaned properly. The 'sea area' was also filled with rubbish, the swimming pools were available but both cold. The food was reasonably priced but took along time to arrive. As a woman traveller it was very uncomfortable not only for the swimming but also shopping as I did not feel happy travelling to find the local shops, made it across the road and there was very few open. Asked for an iron and they were unable to assist. I also asked for a morning wake up call to get to the air port on return ...which also did not occur.

Nice hotel overlooking the Mediterranean Sea with private beach.
The location is good for shopping and sightseeing.
Pretty expensive but I wasn't footing the bill !
Worth a visit.

This hotel appears to be very new and the rooms are very nice at face value but on closer inspection the bathroom could have been cleaner, the shower curtain rail fell off and hit me (and the whole curtain and rail fell down), the basin and the shower did not drain properly and the toilet kept running. This should have been a nice room with a small balcony and sea views but the shoddy finish on the building made it a bit more ordinary.

Notwithstanding, the bed linen was clean and fresh and the room itself was nice enough and quite spacious. Unfortunately, my sea view was marred by a massive crane and a pile of cement bollards directly out the front of the window, however, there wasn't any construction actually occuring whilst I was there.

The bar area and private beach area a very nice and the location of the hotel is good - except the beer was not exactly cold.

We didn't eat in the restaurant but others did and were not particularly impressed. I would recommend taking a cab around to the Fort where you will find the "blue and white" Greek Club that has amazing fresh food, esp, the fish which you chose yourself and eat on a terrace overlooking the harbour.

  • Liked — Good location
  • Disliked — The poor finish on the rooms meaning that they are already falling apart after such a short time

I stayed 2 nights with my wife in azur hotel.

Its a nice place with an excellent location, great view, clean rooms, its perfect if you are visiting alexandria if you are intrested in sight seeing and touring around.. but if you are on a honeymoon then no.... youll have to go to the four seasons.

the food is not that good, but your a step away from other resturants so who cares about the food.

the staff are helpful and friendly...

Me and my friend stayed for 1 night at this hotel and regretted leaving the hotel in the morning. It had such a fantastic view of the sea right outside the hotel rooms. One of the 2 pools in the hotel was up on the rocks with the Meditarranian view. We were on a 1 day tour to Alexandria and arrived almost after 10pm the day before. The morning we wake up and get to see this amazing view. We took a stroll on the small private beach area of the hotel before we had to check-out for our touring expeience in Alexandria. It is `1a must stay hotel and please stay atleast 2 days in the hotel and enjoy the luxury of the beach and pool. It was cold outside and needed a light jacket. But surprisingly the sea water was nice and warm. Wish we could have spend more time in this place. Would definitely recommend stay here just for the scenic view. The servers and waiters in the breakfast area would stare and try to make you feel that you are an alien but that is part of an Egyptian experience, common in all the cities :)

  • Liked — The Mediterrranian Sea view from the rooms
  • Disliked — You have to walk down a floor with your laguage and no elevators

I've just been to the Mediterranean Azur, and I have to say I really enjoyed my time. The location is quite unique, only Helnan Palestine Hotel in Montaza has a seafront location like this. The design of the hotel is also very nice and looks wonderful by night time. The beach is great, with clean sand and a wonderful view. The rooms are nicely sized, and some have a balcony. They aren't luxurious, but they are very clean and comfortable. All of my requests were dealt with quite efficiently by the friendly staff.

The food is not to die for, but it satisfies your hunger and is tasty. You can find many fast food joints and regular restaurants right across the street if you want to try food outside the hotel or you could try their View cafe, which overlooks the sea.

Having stayed at other hotels like Helnan Palestine and Mercure Romance, I enjoyed my time at the Azur the most. The setting is both relaxed as it directly overlooks the sea as well as convenient owing to the fact that it is right at the heart of Alexandria.

Location not bad, staff untrained/useless. Food ok but not great. Rooms a bit mucky, strange/unpleasant smells in the beds and bathrooms. Reminded me of a 1970's motor lodge/holiday park.
We arrived for 5 days 4 of which were for a conference held on site. The hotel I think is new, but the rooms are scruffy, there is no information on the hotel where you are or what can be done. The beach looks pretty but the water is pretty revolting there was floating rubbish in the water. We had to ring to get toilet paper in our room we were told someone would come but after 3 hours we gave up and went to get it ourselves. I was told internet access was not available but the next day we discovered there was occasional wifi supply in the bar in the reception 9nothing in the rooms). There was considerable confusion regarding the price of the hotel, firstly we had to pay for the rooms on the day we arrived, then at the end of the stay we were told that we had been charged as if the price was in USD but they meant to charge as if the price was in Euro (not true) after much arguing we settled on a small additional charge but it was 1) not what was quoted to the conference and 2) not what we had agreed through expedia. The ceonference room was big and not bad, they had issues with wifi and with the aircon but these were solved, coffee break and lunch weren't bad.
The staff seemed not to have a clue what was available or nearby to do or to see.
We checked out at 4am having been told you have to be at the airport for a domestic flight at least 2 hours before you leave, we arrived at the airport it was shut! No-one else turned up for another hour! The driver supplied by the hotel also tried to change the agreed price and charged us extra for actually going into the airport. We were rung twice by the hotel on our drive to the airport as they said there was a bottle of water missing from our mini bar this was not true as the water was expensive we had bought our own.
Alexandria is not the best place to visit as a tourist there's really not much to see or do, the seafood is pretty good but the cooking style is fried fried fried which makes it all taste the same. The driving is incredible I live in Delhi and am used to pretty scary driving but Alexandria is phenomenal I shut my eyes a few times.
