Old " soviet" style hotel supposed to be as 5* hotel but I cannot give more than 3 1/2 * with indulgence ....you may find for sure better alternatives in Brasov. Try to avoid rooms facing the street due to the noise comming from the traffic.
If you'll like to experience a very good local restaurant neraby the hotel , you have to try " Casa Sergiana " but be sure to make a reservation .

We stayed two nights at the Aro Palace, rated 5 stars. We had been warned that star ratings are awarded by national / regional authorities and official criteria differ from country to country.

The hotel is located next to the historic centre and there are interesting and good restaurants nearby.

The room we had was spacious and the best thing was the view - facing the mountain. After quite a bit of walking around one afternoon, we decided to relax in the room before going out in the evening. We sat before the window for 2 hours, enjoying the view and having tea with pastry we bought from Gigi, a wonderful bakery chain a five-minute walk away. We deliberately left the curtains open at night because of the illuminated buildings on the mountain. It was beautiful.

Yet, the hotel leaves much to be desired. The service was very impersonal in general. Guest room amenities were rather inadequate: there was only a very small rubbish bin in the bathroom and no wastepaper basket in the room itself; facial tissue was only available on request and WiFi access was only provided in the lobby area. The worst thing was that the bathtub leaked. The floor of the bathroom was such that water did not flow towards the drain hole and the bathroom was literally flooded after a shower. Couples we travelled with had the same problem in their rooms. We did not attempt to bring it up with Reception. Rather, we talked to the maid when she came to do the room. She was very helpful. She dried the bathroom floor and put two extra bath mats along the bottom of the bathtub. That solved the problem during the rest of our stay.

Our friends were surprised that, as hotel guests, they had to pay to use the swimming pool. Then, there was a swimming class in progress at the pool.

Brasov is a beautiful city and if we do visit again, we might still stay here, but we probably won't count this as one of the pleasures of coming to Brasov.

We spent a week at Aro Palace hotel.
The location is great, in the center of the city, near the bus station and the city square, but also in a very quiet region.
The staff was very efficient and helpful at check in and check out.
The lobby is big and very nice.
We had a nice and big room on the 3rd floor with mountain view;very comfortable too.
Nice bathroom with sparkling white towel, bathrobes and slippers; but very few toiletries.
No waste basket in the room.
The biggest inconvenience is the shower; every time you have a shower the water pours on the floor .
We complained at the reception , but we were told that all the rooms have the same problem???
And from the previous reviews on TripAdvisor I see that no one cared to fix this water leak on the bathroom floor.
Our room was cleaned daily, they changed daily the sheets and the pillowcases; very polite staff and helpful.
The breakfast was good and rich, with many varieties of food.
The strange thing too is the fact that in a so called 5 star hotel you have to pay to use the swimming pool; they charge you 32 lei( approx 7,5 euros) every time you use it.
The management can fix this few problems to improve the standard of the hotel.
If you pay cash you get 10% discount.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with park view.

The hotel is in center of old town we walked every where from here. That was a positive. our room was clean the customer service was hit and miss depending on the time of the day. Did meet a bartender who went out of his way to make our stay nice. Did have some issue when checking out I had to show where we pre-paid our room in advance at the end of our stay.On my next visit I would probably seek out another place for lodging.

Although the larger part of this hotel is fairly modern, the hotel has the feel of a Soviet-era hotel......large echoing spaces..not too clean. The room was fairly large but the fittings were poor or broken.
Get down to breakfast early as food runs out! The breakfast was the poorest we had in Romania.
A hotel for the coach tours.

We stayed here one night during a tour of Transylvania. It's a nice hotel, supposedly 5 star -- well, maybe for Brasov. It is a nice, modern hotel with a large lobby. Our room had a lovely view over the park across the street. In the room there was a fridge, robes and slippers, and plush towels. Breakfast was good. But -- no wi-fi in the room, only in the lobby (there's wired internet in the room but that doesn't help with a tablet computer). No wastebasket in the room, only in the bathroom. No facial tissues. The bed was hard. I don't know the cost of the room as it was included in the price of our tour. A good hotel that needs attention to details.

I have stayed in this hotel several times because it was booked by the company I have been visiting.
The staff sometimes behaves as guests are disturbing them. Big problem when paying. Euros vs. Lei. I had to go outside, found exchange office and change Euros to Lei to pay. Then I went back to pay and staff gave me back in Lei what I did not want to. So I exchanged once again and lost 2x exchange rate.

The room looked old-fashioned and used.

Breakfast during my stay was good.

I was affraid of to use lifts in the hotel. There were really scary. Once, in the morning I got stuck in the lift. Very "nice" experience....

In the night young guys in fast cars were racing in front of the hotel. Need for speed!
