Rolling Stone Hostel
Ranked #15 of 93 Specialty Lodging in Brasov

Stayed here for 3 nights, didn't need to make a reservation. The hostel was quiet due to late season. A very welcoming hostel run by 2 sisters - very attentive towards their guests and it did feel more like a stay in friends house. Dianna arranged a trip out of Bran castle and a bear sanctuary (their dad takes you there) with a couple of other guests. Although you do need to pay for this service - if you get the opportunity, it's worth considering (unless you are confident with the Romanians) as I found the public transport staff unbelievably unhelpful - behind their glass smoke screens shaking their heads! There isn't a very regular service to places either. They (the public transport staff) certainly didn't seem interested on the benefits of tourists visiting their area, I felt more like a nuisance. So I did get to see at least some of the local attractions thanks to this hostel even though I did pay a little bit (it's not extortianate).

The hostel itself is simple accommodation. It is probably due some upgrade such as the bedding and things for the kitchen. It isn't an ideal kitchen (very small) for self catering though it doesn't cost much at all to eat out in Brasov, though the food isn't that great.
There is free wifi in the lounge which was good. They did my laundry for me for a small fee, there is however no dryer, they hang dry it for you. The rooms are slightly more spacious than other hostels I've stayed at and there is large cupboard to secure your things with chain for locking. It is cheap to stay here. It's probably a good hostel to meet other travellers when busier. Finally their cat Judy is very sweet!

The whole experience at this hostel was great. I had a single room with bath, lovely views and clean bathroom. The 2 sisters who run this hostel give you a full explanation of things to do in Brasov, arrange tours, and are very helpful. there's a TV room, a dining room. It's quiet and about a 15 minute walk to the central square.

Room Tip: Restaurant Romanescu around the corner is excellent. Rooms upstairs have lovely views

I loved this place. The staff was amazing, energetic, and always made sure I plenty to do. I met a lot of awesome travelers here as well that really made my stay memorable. It's quite, clean, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Most travelers I met here, including myself, extended their stay. I think this says a lot about what Brasov has to offer and the experience at the Rolling Stone. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is not at the center of town but its not far and I, personally, liked the location by St Nicholas church much better. This is really great place to stay if you want to meet fellow travelers and to get ideas of things to do in and around Brasov. The breakfast offerings of toast and jam could have been a lot better (no coffee!?!) but I did really like the locally made jams.

Excellent Hostel, very warm welcome, giving plenty of info, and trips offered. Great private room, far better than a lot of Hotels. No noise so slept well, easy to find from the Train station by local bus, a fair way but no problem at all. Wifi worked okay. Handy location for going on mountain walks straight from the door. Not too near town centre but not to far either.

Room Tip: Private corner room

Stayed here for almost a week, and loved every minute of it. The staff are very friendly and really go out of their way to make sure you have a great time. They are very familiar with the area and are very proud of their city.

Really enjoyed my short stay at Rolling Stone. The staff was very friendly and gave plenty of advice on things to do around Brašov. Breakfast was just bread and butter, and the kitchen was locked with no access to utensils or hot water for tea from 9pm to 10am (kind of annoying). Home made jam was delicious though. The hostel mascots, an adorable kitty and tiny dog, were an unexpected bonus as both were very friendly and willing to cuddle. Location was a very short walk from Old Town Brašov, and not far from a bus stop to the train station. This hostel seems to be popular with groups, and I can really see why! Great value, would stay again.
