“A beautiful square surrounded by interesting buildings”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

A great place to soak up the atmosphere of Sibiu both day and night. The square is both a busy thoroughfare and a place to wander. We visited after Christmas when the lights still adorned the buildings and were strung in a beautiful arrangement out from the centre. The evenings came early and were started with plentiful 'vin de fierte' and hot chocolate from the stalls of the Christmas market - a great vantage point for some people watching. This is also where to find the main tourist information office which is worth knowing! Certainly worth at least one visit and really I'd recommend numerous visits into and across the square, from all directions and looking in all directions in order to appreciate the intrigue of this place.

“Very German”
Reviewed January 12, 2013 via mobile

It seems that German medieval architecture is better preserved in some countries out of Germany. The squere is large, clean, with very good defined geometric form. Shortly said, it is very German. I liked it very much.

“Like in a genuine German city”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Large, clean, with well refurbished historical buildings, nicely decorated for the winter celebrations. It is the best place where a tourist may asscertain the historical roots of this city.

“The heart of the city...”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

The square is ...actually a circus, a perfect form which works from itself, meaning that everyone in the circle feels close to each other. A secret that makes everyone happy and smile. The place has witnessed so many events all through the centuries, something that also speaks from itself. You may have a walk in summer, finding out the bavarian spirit while drinking a glass of beer, or you may come in winter, discovering the Christmas Market, so much similar to the ones in Wien or Salzburg. Do not miss the Art gallery in Bruckenthal Palace, also situated in the Big Square and the beautiful churches around...
