The Orthodox Cathedral takes you out of the busy bustle of Sibiu's main square and into a world of quiet, peace, and religious devotion. The Cathedral is beautiful, with wooden pews, painted statues, and a beautiful altar which is always decorated with fresh flowers. It is not unusual to see little old Romanian ladies in black performing their devotions. It's cool and quite inside, and provides a wonderful place for introspection for those of a religious bent, or a place of contemplation for others. Contemplating the importance of the Church in former times is quite easy in such surroundings. It is right off the main square and takes just minutes to pop inside, so it should not be missed.
