“Exceptional choice!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

If you are going to stay overnight in Sibiu, you'll make the best choice by staing at this pension. Very clean and cosy, great buffet brekfast, resonable price, near the city center. Nice romantique atmosphere, wooden beams, a very deep sleep in woderfull cotton sheets. Just great !

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012

We stayed here for two nights – we had booked a triple room as twin rooms were not an option (only doubles). We had to book the room as three people (even though we were only two) as it was a ‘private’ room – we had no issues paying the extra (as it’s quite cheap) however, when we arrived the owner expressed her disappointment in their only being two of us and that the ‘third’ bed had been made in the expectation of a third guest??? I’m still not sure what the issue was with this – as presumably ALL beds are prepared after a guest has stayed the night and the rooms should be ready.
When we checked into our room – it turns out we were booked into a family room with two single beds downstairs and a double bed upstairs, it was NOT a triple room (not that it mattered) but again – why are there no twin rooms advertised, when clearly this could be booked as a twin room?

That aside the pension itself is in a lovely, rustic (but clean and modern) building a short walk from the train and bus station and about a 20 min walk from the centre of town. The rooms are furnished basically, the bathroom was clean and the beds were comfortable, there was a wall column heater that even when set on low was still radiating enough to keep us toasty. We did not have breakfast while we were here (it was 5 euro each and while I’m sure it’s delicious – for that price you can easily find something in the centre of town).

There were some families staying at the same time and noise was an issue (small children) as were the creaking floorboards in the hallway and as a previous reviewer has mentioned – the wifi only works on the office level (the level below the rooms).

Despite this being a family run pension – once we had handed over our money – we had little to do with the owners (we were not offered maps, directions or suggestions to visit sites or places to eat.)

This is a pleasant place to stay, if somewhat impersonal (for a pension).

We enjoyed to stay at Zanzi. The pension is close to Sibiu old town, so we could go walking easily.
The building is welcoming, with wooden girder and characteristic furniture.
The room was also in the same style and was nice and clean.
Breakfast was been a surprise!
An excellent buffet from wich we chose from salty to sweet, everything was very good!
The staff was ever kind and available, there is a very homely atmosphere.

The pension has an OK location close to the trainstation; the city centre is 15 minutes walking. We came there early in the morning without a booking and still they could give us a room straight away. The rooms are quite simple but nice with wooden beams. We were a bit disappointed that the Wifi wasn't working since it says they have it on booking.com. When we asked about it they said: "It usually isn't working"!!

Room Tip: If you like a nice hotel close to the trainstation then this is a good option. If you care a lot abo...

As well as comfortable clean beds and always hot showers, Eleanor and Christina, our hosts, both with excellent English went out of the way to make our stay memorable, with lots of advice and infomation. No question was too difficult for them, ensuring that we enjoyed all of the unparalleled charms of Sibiu. Access to the kitchen was an optional benefit, Eleanor even offering us a taste of her delicious home made blackberry jam. Christina even went to the trouble of helping us to book our next stay, in a Gite in a typical Rumanian village. The hotel is complemented by the Zanzibar, where we had cold beers in the sunny courtyard and many conversations with several guests and English speaking Rumanians, such as Alex the computer Programmer and Kick Boxing entrepreneur. We unreservedly recommend the chareming Hotel Zanzi
