“very good value money”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

very good value for money, rooms not perfect but decent, very good location right in the city center. breakfast in the restaurant downstairs, parking taxes provided by the hotel so you dont have to pay. downside would be that the rooms dont all look the same and some are not so great decorated. overall a very good deal

We were more than delighted with our stay at Casa Frieda.
Rooms:
Rooms 4 and 5 are both front facing so if you want a view ask for one of those - they look over the main street in Sibui. The other rooms face into an internal courtyard area which is still pretty but would I imagine limit natural light. I was in room 4 which was huge. It had a giant flat screen TV , a wee fridge and a very smart bathroom. The beds were comfy and the only thing that would have been nice was a kettle.

Facilities
Well it's small so there aren't a great deal of facilities to talk about. One good thing is that it is attached to a 24 hour kiosk - this means one is never short of a late night beer. Housekeeping was fine. Towels were changed every day.

Food
There is a restaurant downstairs. We ate there in the evening and the food was excellent and great value for money. The polenta was some of the best I've had in Romania. Breakfast was also served here. I can't say that was a particularly memorable meal but considering the fact it was included in the very reasonable room rate I can't complain. It is also served until 11am which is nice. If you don't smoke be prepared to do some serious passive smoking in there though

Location
Super location at the top of the pedestrianised area of the old town. It is about a 5min walk to the 3 old town squares. A few good restaurants and bars are nearby.

Staff
Well... no where is perfect. The staff who were running the reception kiosk were great and really helpful but the guys in the restaurant seemed to have other things on their mind apart from running a restaurant. Getting served was often something of a challenge - especailly at breakfast.

Overall I thought this place was super value for money (we paid around 25 or 30 euro per night through booking.com) I would definitely stay here again if I went back to Sibui

Room Tip: As I mentioned 4 and 5 are the ones which look onto the street

Situated on the main pedestrian thoroughfare heading to the main square, with tables to eat al fresco or inside. My partner had booked a superior room which had a little balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. The room was spacious with a well appointed bathroom including a hairdryer. Very clean and comfortable bed. The reception is in the little cigarette kiosk just before the archway into the hotel!! We had 2 delightful nights here and would certainly book here again.

Room Tip: I think our superior room was number 10. Don't be put off by the fact that it is above the resta...

Sited in a pedestrian area 2 minutes walk from the main square this is an excellent place to stay. We chose the superior room at the back of the pensuine - very spacious air condidtioned room, big flat screen TV.. There is a great covered outside bar at the front where you can while away an hour with a beer or two. The food served was good quality, service quick and very friendly. The breakfasts are taken in their own restaurant which is well visited by locals and travellers alike.

Room Tip: Choose the superior room at the back - not much more and well worth it

Couldn`t sleep, as between 2am and 5am there was a horrible noise, something like a water-pump working or something- but 2 nights in a row?? Probably I could have asked to change the room, as the staff was really very nice.
Restaurant: huge dishes for a very reasonable price, not the best chef in Sibiu but honest traditional cuisine

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Casa Frieda and can't wait to return next year.
From the minute we checked in to the minute we left we found nothing but perfection.
The staff were friendly and helpful , the room was really a studio with a separate room with a full size fridge , bathroom and large bedroom.
The air-conditioning was heavenly in the 30 degree heat and we even had a little furnished balcony.
Breakfast could be chosen from the menu and you could order as much as you liked, my favourite was the fried eggs and sausages with toast , orange juice and coffee.
The food served in the evening was of the same high standard, and we had one of the best meals we have ever had in Romania on our second night. I can highly recommend the Gyros !
The Casa Frieda is ideally situated in the old town of Sibiu only a 10 minute walk from the train station so avoiding taxi fares. Also being on a pedestrianised street there is no traffic noise so a good nights sleep is possible ( ideal when you have had a busy day sight seeing)
This was our 3rd visit to Romania, staying in a total of 6 hotels and the Casa Frieda being the best all-round hotel we have found yet..
Thank you for a relaxing stay and we are looking forward to returning next year.
