I spent an extended weekend with my extended family (5 persons) this year in Lefter's apartment in Varna. The building is located across the street (across Kniaz Boris) from the end of the Sea Garden, in an area full of newly built vacation apartments. At the time we visited, all apartments in the building seemed to be empty, except for the owner's, who was also living in the building. He was very nice, welcoming and accommodating, met us at Piccadily and saw us to the apartment. The place is spotlessly clean and the kitchen is equiped with anything you can wish for. It's a 15 min walk to the beachfront and from there maybe another 5 or 7 to the closest beach where you can swim decently. Alternatively, you can drive to the beach or in town, which is what we did. The only downside to our stay is the relatively complicated alarm system of the building, which we did not understand properly and thus misused several times. I anticipate it will be a big issue once more people start moving in, especially if some of the apartments will be rented as short-term stays, like ours was. Varna is probably my favourite place on the Bulgarian coastline and the fact it's a city and not a tacky tourist resourt adds to its charm. There are nice, very affordable restaurants around and nothing beats the views in the Sea Garden while having your morning jog in there.
